Is this dress suitable for an afternoon outdoors May wedding? It's white on the bottom and the top is stripped, so I'm not sure if its appropriate.

I was thinking of wearing a short black cardigan would offset it , but after so many " NO ' responses in such a short time, I think this dress is out of the question. It looked light and Airy for out doors since May is usually hot is CA. You guys are great ! Thanks for the quick responses.

Gosh, I think this is a beautiful dress (I may just have to buy one too!) but I think it might be a tad too white for you to wear to a wedding. If you bought a wrap in either the orange or yellow that is shown in the dress detail you might be OK, since it will offset all that white, and make the dress more colorful. If you wore it on it's own, I guarantee even though the bride might not be annoyed, there will be at least one or two people commenting on how rude it is to wear white to a wedding.

I know you already have tons of answers, but I thought I'd give my input. I am getting married next May and I would be really upset if someone wore a dress with this much white to my wedding. However, I am very detail oriented and a bit sensitive. I am just hoping nobody wears white (I'm keeping my fingers crossed). I must hand it to you, though. At least you asked; most people wouldn't bother asking. If someone was close to me and asked me if they could wear white to my wedding, then I would be happy that they took my feelings into consideration (the answer would still be no, though).

No - very cute dress, but too white, and with the top and the bell skirt, even cut a little like a bridal gown - though of course shorter and plainer. (If you can get the same dress in a different color it'd be great.)

Generally, be very careful with this - if in doubt, chose a different dress. You don't know how sensitive the bride is - some can be very touchy on this subject.

Still a cute dress, though - maybe you could buy it for a different occassion?

OK this is JUST my opinion but I think the only person to wear white or CLOSE to white should be the bride..........I had a friend wear a white suit to my wedding and I can tell you it really pi$$ed me off....she meant no harm but in the pics she stuck out like a sore thumb and I just saw it as rude.

Its a really nice dress and am sure it would be good for any other occasion......[also as a thought does it come in another colour, if that's the case then it would be perfect]

Regards and it shows really good manners on your part to at least ask before hand............maybe you could even ask the bride if you know her well enough and see what she say's

A lot of old-fashioned answers!

Most etiquette sites advise: "Since the popularization of the white wedding dress in the mid-19th century, women have avoided wearing white to a wedding, so that the bride might uniquely shine in her white wedding gown. While this rule, like the "no black dresses" rule, has since been rejected, a female guest should select carefully if she opts to wear white. Be careful to not select anything that might cause anyone to mistake you for the bride. If you plan to wear white, choose carefully, and accessorize with color."

The dress shown doesn't look like a bride's dress and it has sprays of flowers in yellow and orange. Wear yellow or orange shoes with a matching bag and you will look smashing.

If you have to ask then the dress is wrong. Go light, not white. Be cute and conservative. It is all about the bride so the fact that you're asking means you have tact and good taste. Good luck.

I think it looks just right. There is enough going on that it isn't too white, and won't compete with the bride. Click on additional views to see the dress shown on a model. Looks great and is totally appropriate!

I don't think that it's a problem. If the bride is hell bent on being the only one in white then you should respect that. If you can then you should run it by her.
