I want to be where God is forgiving and good and that's it. No guilt, no icons, no texts, just God. Is there a religion like that?

All religions are about a god, by definition. None are good. There are no real gods. Religion is just organized superstition.

I went through what you are, and am now a Wiccan. I strongly suggest you explore Paganism in general as an option. Pagans have no text, no required icons, and we do not believe in angry or punishing deities. You can choose to believe in any deity you like, or even more than one, or just one; you can perceive deity as a God or Goddess or horse, Zeus or Jehovah or Brighid or St. Anthony, or a puppy or rose or Ford Escort, if that's what you want. We see the divine in all things while recognizing multiple forms of deity.

There is no dogma and no moral code other than to harm none. You can go all the way and buy into the trappings (magick, herbalism, new agey stuff) or just simply worship your deity. Highest priority is placd on one's intuition and personal experience of God, which sounds like what you're looking for.

Of course you can also just be a deist and believe in God without religion. But if you're looking for a community and a religion, Paganism is the fastest growing in the U.S.

You will have to find out for yourself what is the true religion. That will require studying all religions yourself. This process might be helpful.

The first step, therefore, in the normal process of conversion and determining which is the true religion is the investigation and examination of the credentials of that religion, which often is a painful labor lasting for years.

The external grace, which draws a man's attention to the Catholic Church and causes him to begin his inquiry, is as various and manifold as there are individual inquirers. It may even be something to one's temporal advantage. It may be the interest aroused in a great historical personage. Whatever may have been the initial motive. If the study were pursued with an open mind, we hold that it will lead to the knowledge of the true Church, i.e. to this certain conclusion: The Catholic Church is the true Church.

This intellectual conviction; however, is not yet the act of faith. One may hesitate, or refuse to take the next step, which is the "good will to believe." And this leads to the third and final act, the act of faith itself: I believe what the Church teaches because God has revealed it. These three acts, especially the last, are, in accordance with Catholic teaching, supernatural acts. Then follows baptism by which the believer is formally received into the body of the Church.Jesus Christ founded only one Church and that happens to be the Church I belong to.

It is the only Church that can prove a direct and unbroken line of succession from Jesus Christ to St. Peter up to the present pope, Pope Benedict XVI. No other Christian church can make this claim.

Peace and every blessing!

Take a look into Universalism.

In the USA it's called:

Unitarian Universalism
http://www.uua.org/

(Taken from the UUA.ORG site.)
With its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion -- that is, a religion that keeps an open mind to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves. We are a "non-creedal" religion: we do not ask anyone to subscribe to a creed.

I think Islam is the best religion for you.But you must know that Islam is a way of life for the safety and happiness here in this world and in the life after death.Allah the only one God is merciful and forgiveful. There is no religion with only God because God has given us a life guide that is called holy Qur'an and the last prophet Muhammad pbuh gave also his guidance for its implementation which is called hadeth..Based on both of them you will know what should be done of the right things or right path and what should not be done of the bad things or the wrong path.As a good followers
we should obey it in our everyday of life.

You do not want a "religion" you want a faith in Jesus Christ. Religion has often been said is man struggling to reach God. Christianity is God reaching to man in his need. You say you want a God of love. First off there is only one God, the God of the Bible, Yahweh. God tells us there are no other gods but He. Allah is not the same, Allah comes from a pagan deity where the followers worshiped the moon. God tells us all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. This is why He sent His Son to die on Calvary to take our place and pay for our sins through the shedding of His blood. There is only one way we can ever gain entry to heaven and that is to accept Christ as our Savior. It is written, neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given to men whereby you must be saved, only through Christ.

You can't invent God! Please don't fool yourself.

If God does not exist, then there is no point in trying to find him. But if God does exist, then he exists on his own terms. Your believing certain things about him doesn't change who he is.

If God exists, then you can only find out his true nature by listening to what he has to say about himself. He has revealed himself through nature (the universe) and through the Bible.

Christianity is not about guilt, not about icons, not about texts, and just about God. The problem is that Christians have made it into all that. God is good and forgiving, and above all, loving - it's his followers that mess things up. We are imperfect and we represent him poorly.

Look past God's followers and focus on God, and you will find what you are looking for.

sure...just do what 95% of todays practicing christians do...create your own image of god. this is how you do it. you scan through the bible, get a general idea of god, throwing out all the parts you don't like and keeping all the parts you do like, for instance:
you throw out.....the commandments and every part in there that tells us when we do wrong
you keep...every verse that tells how loving GOD is, and forgiving, and merciful, etc.
then you have your very own religion that meets all your needs...but one...it doesnt save you.

Revelation 22:18-20 King James Version (this applys to the whole bible as it is repeated in several places...what this is saying is that one can lose their salvation for adding to or taking away from the words of the bible...this doesnt mean just rewriting it, but the example i gave above as well as changing the meaning of words as these newer versions of the bibles are doing.)
18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Yes it's call God Jesus in your heart, pray and communicate to him he is truly there waiting for you, trust him. God is waiting for us to come forth to him as a personal friendship... you just have to spend time with him, one on one, than you will feel his answers to your questions. God would communicate in many ways, and if you please him, he will let you know that he is happy, like a pat on the back. Yes there is a religion like that, I am living it, at times we are close, he understands me, and I him.

If you don't want the Bible, then you are looking for a cult not God.

The Church of Christ is all about God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
All we do is sing, pray, study give as we have been prospered and take the Lords Supper.

That is it. Nothing else. Just God.

We Hear the word.
Believe in Jesus
Repent of our sins
Confess Jesus
Be Baptized
Live faithful until death.
Plain, simple, and uncomplicated.
