Save your self the head ache. do not go to government houseing. there nice to a apoint. you could live next to an e6 and that could spell trouble. way to many rules. find a nice little place out in town and rent or better yet if your gonna be there for 2 or more years buy. and then sell. In va a few friends did that and mad a nice chunk of change.

Housing varies form base to base . you will not always get housing on base. It varies by Rank and BR entitlement. waiting times can be up to a year long to get into housing. most base housing has a limit fo 2 pets. no exotic animals, and some breeds of dogs are not allowed in base housing.

YOU don't get any money, your spouse gets paid. he will get paid based on his rank and time in service. Basic Alallowance for housing as well, but if you live in base housing, all of that is deducted in an allotment back to housing for rent. If you live off base, BAH depends on the rank and the zip code of the duty location.

The military does not pay any of your bills. On base housing includes a stipend for utilities, but everything else you pay for.

You may be givena choice of a few units to choose from, but only out what what is available for your entitlement. if you only rate a 2 BR apartment for isnatnce, you may not request a 3 BR townhouse unless there are a lot of empty units lying around.

Most Base housing is not located on the bases proper. it's treated just like aregular neighborhood. They don't force you to stay on base/in housing, you are allwoed to do anything you like as long as it is legal.

Not too many bases are near facilites that harbor horses. san Diego has a few within about an hour.

choosing to live on base or off is your own decision. somepeople choose tolive on base, others off. soem can find adequate housing off base under the BAH and they can make soem money on the deal. I have lived both on and off, and for each base, where I lived was the right choice for us then.

it varies by location and rank but the housing if you choose military housing, is usually very good. they will take your housing allowance for living in military housing. living out in town all depends on location and the prices vary. you can shop where ever you want. the on base stuff is usually a pretty good deal. i lived in mil housing for 1 year but didn't like all the gossip and the the wives thinking they have their husbands rank (they don't). for opsec reasons i will not say where i'm from, but there is pretty much any job available there that you could possibly want. be prepared to have your boyfriend/husband away from time to time. again for opsec reasons i will not say how long and stuff. by the way opsec is operations security...you never know who is reading this stuff you know? i hope this helps some, you bf/husbands recruiter could give you information also.
