Sounds like your "man" is nothing but a little boy, but that's OK because you are just a little girl. P.S.-- Nobody gives a rat's a_s if you are upset or not.

When I first started reading your question, I felt bad for you and your boyfriend, but then you said prom and I realized how young you are. I'm sure most high schoolers don't have cars or jobs so get over it. I agree with everyone else...you should buy the prom tickets or, if it's that big of a deal that he has no money then go find some rich guy and stop making your boyfriend feel bad about himself.

Just be there for him. Let him know you don't need anything fancy for prom...and help him find a new job. It'll make him feel better. Also, don't nag him. Just...show him any new job opportunities and leave it at that. If you stress him about the issue, you might end up with no prom date AND no boyfriend.

wow well doesn't someone sound a little selfish.. YOU can't take it anymore.. think of how HE feels.. he's the one in the situation.. try to show some compassion and Be There for him in in rough time.. that's what a good girlfriend would Want to do... and he won't be able to take you to prom.. oh poor you... what you can do to help is to show him you're Still there for him despite his money loss... i really would hope money wouldn't matter That much... as long as you are rich on love!

Virginia's comment is repulsive. I seriously hope you overlook it. Neither racism, nor plotting, is the right approach. Your boyfriend's situation affects his life; it only affects your prom night. I'm sure there are plenty of alternatives for getting to the prom. Try to find one. I can see where you might be disappointed, but try to meet him half way. The situation is disappointing, not your boyfriend; confusing the two is dangerous.

Well more than likely he is young (since you talked of prom) and is in a relationship with a selfish child. This lil' child probably nags and nags and nags and he does his best to please her but his best isnt good enough and he gets depressed.
My two cents, let the man go and be a better person since obviously with you he can't do anything right.

make your guy get out of the house and do whatever it is he likes to do. Take him to the movies or to his favorite restraunt or go golfing or whatever he enjoys doing go go. Also always compliment him and surprise him with cards and e-mails and texts and stuff like that. Even the little things help. But getting him out and about and getting him busy to where his mind is off of everything might help a little. Give him some time and he'll probably start to get a little better

i would talk to his parents if he still lives with them. talk to him about going to the dr. about his depression or see if he will get into counseling. and if he doesnt want to take you to the prom then id tell him thats fine someone else has asked me so if you dont go im going anyway. you need to spark a fire in him to get back to his ownself. but sounds to me like theres more going on with him.

Oh poor baby. Can't take you to the prom and that's ticking you off?
How about a little sympathy for HIM?
Why don't YOU take HIM to the prom?
