thats when you dig deep into the tackle box. Try things you havent tried in awhile or use things you havent used and thought they wouldnt work. If this dont work, buy a crankbait and fish along weedlines. Also buy some yum dingers and use those. they always work

There are several things you can try if you're not catching somewhere, whether it's a lake or a river, particularly if you just fish from land, rather than in a boat.
1) If you've been staying put in the same spot each session, or dictating where you fish by how close you are to where you parked.... gather together the absolute minimum tackle you need (Rod, reel, line, spare spool of line for leaders + spare end tackle, bait box / box of lures, forceps, landing net, polarised sunglasses) and go exploring round the Lake, checking out as many different spots as possible... in particular looking for potential fish holding features (e.g. boat landings / jetties, fallen trees, etc).
2) Keep a check on what the weather has been doing lately, as fish tend to sulk when it suddenly turns bad and go off the feed for ages.... particularly if it goes really cold. Can also be a problem if things get too hot for them (lack of oxygen in the water).
3) On REALLY hot days and the fish are sulking because of lack of oxygen, look for something like a stream or a waterfall feeding water into the lake as fish like to hang out below features like that because there's a little more oxygen there for them + it washes in food for them.
4) Try changing tactics......... like if you've been fishing with worms, try using lures instead........... or perhaps presenting the bait differently (e.g. legering it on the bottom instead of higher up with a float)......... or try a small hook if you can get away with it.
5) Try to settle into the session a bit more, and leave the bait out longer.... like 15-20mins at a time before putting a fresh one on. I always used to reel it in too soon to see if I'd got a fish yet when I was just starting out until I realised I stand a better chance of catching if I left the bait out longer........ and I still tend to do it now until I've got settled in.
6) Talk to other Anglers there + at the local tackle shop to get an idea of what's been working there lately, and what hasn't.
If all the above fails, fish somewhere else.

now and returned fish only bounce and wreck the floor and are not eating. If i've got been you nevertheless i might attempt fly fishing or small poppers. in case you do no longer prefer to purchase a fly rod on a possibly i might attempt determining to purchase some flies at like walmart or some thing. then tie the fly onto your line and solid it with a bobber approximately 2 ft up the line. this way you could solid the fly however the bobber won't scare the fish. If this works you will possibly attempt getting a fly rod.

If other people are catching, try what they're doing.
If nobody is catching, try another lake.
If nobody else is fishing there, maybe they know something you don't (like there are no fish in the lake).

Try fishing different depths and different type cover. Downsizing baits and linesize can often be helpful. Keep trying different presentations until the fish decide on which one they want.

Try different baits or lures. If that don't work I suggest you go to the market and buy your fish.

Try something different. Live bait, jig, troll, or cast. I run out of time before I run out of different thing to try. But, I'll admit that my tackle box is huge, AND stuffed.

My grandfather (born 1890) used to say that I wasn't holding my mouth right. And spit on your bait. Really, if they are not biting, they are not biting.
