It does not affect me, because I did my part. My job as a saved believer is to tell others about Christ. If they chose not to believe, we are not held responsible. We are however held responsible when we go through our lives telling no one. That is even more sad than someone refusing--knowing that we never tried. And they probably do that partly because they are like children, yes. But people have a hard time believing that they need help--someone to be in control. I also come across many people who have led such aweful lives that they think God can do nothing for them.
Good questions!

Just as Jesus said from the cross, they know not what they do. When people mock the Lord, or the cross, or the gospel message, it is out of a lack of understanding. After all, aren't we sold a bill of goods just about everywhere we turn? Ads on TV promise that if we use this toothpaste or buy that car, we'll be beautiful and successful and popular. I think it sometimes sounds to untrained ears like just one more promise that will come to nothing.
The bible says that no one can say "Jesus is Lord" without having the spirit of God. But just as Paul said, how can they know if no one brings them the gospel? Yes it hurts to have an insult hurled at me. But I can't not talk about salvation through Jesus, His love, forgiveness, compassion and healing. I can't be still about it. So it really, in the scheme of things, doesn't matter much what anyone says. What matters is that God's word never returns void.

I am a mother of 3, they are 19,15 and 17 months. So I have a variety of this is whats good for you stories. It is so much different. I have such a bigger responsibility to my children, to insure that they grow into the people God wants them to be. I am doing pretty good so far, my 19 yr. old is going to be a pastor. I did not do it alone, I raised them through Gods wisdom.
I know with my kids I AM the one God chose to teach them about who their Father is. With others, including my husband, I do not know that I am the one to help bring a person to the Lord. So, when I am scoffed at I know God has a better plan and the right person.
Good analogy though!!

I think it is childish to assume that just because you "know" something, everyone else must also agree with you.
You are not a "father" to the adults in the world around you and I think that is a very condescending attitude. You will find that adults are harder to impress your views upon because adults are capable of critical thinking and making their own decisions. You are wrong to say that non-believers are like children, it is quite the reverse. Children are very easily impressed upon; your children will never be as impressionable to your ideas as they are before their brains mature. That is why the vast majority of children mirror their parent's religious perspectives. People that grow up into adults that do not believe the way their parents do tend to diverge in adulthood, once they have developed the ability to reason independently. So, it is not that non-believers are "bent on doing bad" and "refusing wise advice" like your kids (I hope you don't assume all children are so ill-natured), it is that we are grown-up enough to make up our own minds -- quite unlike children.
Besides, do you really want all of the non-believers in the world to start pretending to believe in god just to appease your desire to determine the beliefs of others?

You KNOW. Well now, if so, you'll have to explain it slowly to me. And you'll have to be reasonable. Can you do that?
C'mon here Chief, isn't it plain to you that we "others" might know a thing or two, also?
As far as your take on how children are born into this world with bad intentions? You must be at least grade b neurotic.Lighten up. Geez, Louise.

Try to be patient and understanding just keep repeating what needs to be taught. They will either get it or they won't, in the end you can say "Father, I gave it my all. I'm sorry I couldn't do more."

Worshipping God may be good for me, but I can't worship with effort without proof and belief in any god, be it Buddha, Ra, Odin, Quetzalcotl(sp?).

I tried. What more can you do? Didn't you have to get burned before you know the reality of fire?
