Jack Dempsey was a phenomena. Arguably the first superstar of the sport. Able to generate huge crowds whoever he fought. His legacy is marred by inactivity and the defeats to Gene Tunney but to compare him to Klitschko is ridiculous.

Forget the weight and height; Dempsey would have eaten Wladimir in minutes, no way Klitschko lives with his speed, power, hunger, volume of punches.

Wladimir Klitschko is a flawed work; sure he can move a little has some pop and is bug, but he's wide open to quick straight punches, is easily felled and lacks the zest for combat that marks Dempsey out as an all time great.

For the actual question who is the better 'boxer' as in master boxing technique, klitchsko probably is, since dempsey was a pure slugger.

As to who would win Demspey of course. Klitchso comes from a decade when heavyweight boxing is in a terrible slump. He is the best of guys who are flat out knocking out fat old men from the last decade, the 1990's. And those guys in the 1990's when they were still young got their asses handed to them by an old man from the 1970's, george foreman!

You want to compare Jack demspey, from one of the most competitive decades ever, when their were ten times as many fighting heavyweights to the "best of the left over current bums"?

Well klitschko is much taller, bigger, builder, muscular, stronger faster much much more beautiful.

Wladimir Klitschko has a much more stronger knockout ration with only 3 losses and no draw
But dempsey has 6 losses with 9 draw

I'd say Klitschko is the better boxer of the two (according to a book by Ferdie Pacheco that I have, Doc Kearns realised that Jack was 'right hand crazy', and was supposed to have made Jack spar entire rounds just on defence, or by using just his left hand. Kearns is also credited with helping develop Jack's crouch, and bob abd weave, thus moloding Dempsey into one of the most, if not the most ferocious fighting machine of that era.

There can be no question that Jack Dempsey has the greater legacy of the two.
