My boyfriend's looking for the perfect engagement ring and I pointed him in that direction, because it seems as though the quality is so much better for the price in comparison with retail stores in the mall. I'd rather have a fair-sized quality diamond, than a big flawed one. Is this site too good to be true?

Blue Nile is able to sell their diamonds for less because they do not have the overhead of the rent and other things retails stores have.

My advice to you however, after working for a jeweler, get the GIA certificate, if it is available, even if you have to pay more for it. Gemilogical Institute of America, or its equivilants will ensure you that you are getting a genuine stone which will up its insurance value

I purchased a diamond from Blue Nile and my fiance loves it. The ring showed up and is beautiful. I would not buy a larger crappy diamond just for the size. Everyone should know it's all about the sparkle. (aka buy an ideal cut round) The only thing that I can think of is: if something would go wrong, where would you take it?

I'm a huge fan of Blue Nile. Design and quality are great, and I agree with you about getting a better quality diamond that's smaller - it will be more brilliant anyway, which is what we're looking for when we get a diamond!
