If there is someone you truly know you would like to take outside of school-go for it...the worst he can say is no if you ask him. But going to the prom needs to be a positive and fun experience, not a source of anxiety. Forcing yourself to make arrangements to go to your prom just because it is "the prom" will not make you happy. If the whole date thing works out, then it is meant to be and you should go and have a great night. But if the whole thing turns out to be a hassle, just go have fun doing something else that night. I knew people who were anti-prom in high school but had plenty of friends and hung elsewhere on prom night--without regret. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Can you go stag? I went to my jr. prom, and from what I recall, it wasn't so much of a couple event as a "get-together-with-buddies-and-wear-fancy-clothes" event. But I went to a *big* high school, and Prom wasn't such a huge deal

I skipped my senior prom (a bad breakup)... I stayed in, and then afterwards went out to the afterprom activities (kegger at the local reservoir) with my buddies. It was a lot more fun than the junior prom. No regrets on my side, but it's not like I've kept in touch with any of those people either.

Talk with your friends to see if any of them are going unaccompanied, if so, just go with a group of your friends. It can be quite fun. If none of them are, ask one of your guy friends at school if they don't have a date yet. Just go as friends, but you'll still be able to go. Also, don't be worried about going to prom unaccompanied. If you bring someone from outside of school, then you will feel a lot more pressure to keep them occupied and not uncomfortable, which can be hard. However, if you do go with a guy friend, be sure that they know that it is just a friend type of thing. I know from experience how awful it is to be led to believe otherwise.

well first i'm sorry about that, but why not ask a good friend to go with you, or like others have said just go and have a good time with your friends, if i didn't go to mine i would have regretted it, not that it was anything spectacular, but just the sentiment of it, i guess for me, it is the mark of the end or your high school life, besides graduation of course, the last hoorah, before you have to go out into the real world, my advice go and enjoy it

I kind of regret never going to my prom. I think I would rather take a good friend and go rather than not go at all.

Don't miss your prom because you don't have a date. Make a statement and go by yourself. But, show up in something like a limo -- people will admire your independence.

I think you should go. I missed out on my graduation party and I've regretted it ever since. If you can see if you can go on a group date with your friends.
