it's said to cause a kind of insomnia but in huge doses and to people sensitive in caffeine. normal consumption and amounts wouldn't do any harm. The thing with caffeine is that it gathers all your power to be spent in less time than i normally would. to some people it takes hours for this process to complete and if they get more and more coffee then they just can't sleep. insomnia- formally is a mental situation where you can't get any sleep at all for some time, not just for a night over 10 cups of coffee.

Caffeine is not "caused" by anything, it's a natural product that prevents you from falling asleep.
