HI,My 19m old has been getting unexplained blisters, he has ecsema, but this usually only appears on his back andsides, sometimes his elbows and legs, these blisters first appeared on his chin, then his side and now he has one on the top of his hand, I have not called his ped. yet, he has also been having 3-5 bowel movements a day, but are usually pretty solid, no real loss of appetite, has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? He doesn't seem sick, he runs, plays, yells, and gets into everything, just a little worried mommy!

It could be hand/foot/mouth disease. Check & see if he has blisters in his mouth. My kids ha this a couple of times - there's not much you can do for it except wait it out. Of course you'll want to contact your pediatrician for an official diagnosis. Good luck!!

If hes happy, healthy, no loss of appetite, doesnt seem to be in pain, and is not running a fever hes probably ok. But I would definitely call the ped as soon as possible to get an explanation as to what those blisters might be.

Does it look like the blisters have pus in them? It could be a skin infection form scratching too much. Dirt and bacteria gets in to the skin and will cause blisters on the skin. It's not infectious, but you should take him to the doctor to get an antibiotic if that is what it is, and hydrocortisone to stop him from causing it again.

I would take him to the pediatricians, just to be safe. He may just need some antibiotic cream but it could be more and when in doubt, it is better to be safe then sorry

his blisters could be less or more of something then someone else's baby's was

best wishes to you both

I was just at the doctor with my daughter the other day and the Pediatrician said that Hand, foot, mouth disease is going around. I think that it's viral...don't remember but my kids have had it before. Another thing that can make your hands peel, is strep throat, but if he is acting fine, I wouldn't suspect that. Check inside his mouth and on the bottoms of his feet.

Isn't 3 to 5 bowel movements a day a little indication something is going on? It could even be related to the rash he has. Please get him to the dr. Better safe than sorry.

Maybe it's an allergy. Give him baths with no soap for a couple of days, and do an extra rinse cycle on his laundry. Do call his doctor as soon as possible- it sounds painful.
