I think being an atheist is a step most serious seekers of truth take at some point if only for a moment. It is a sign or a mark that a person is looking for God and I do not disparage this.

Absolutely 100% very much OK.
I have been an atheist for about 53 years and I remember the sense of relief and freedom when I stepped over that line. I have been free of all that nonsense for quite a while and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

No, it is absolutely mad and deluded to be an athiest, since athiests do not exist.
It's quite all right, however, to be an atheist.

If you have a good logical set of reasons, then fine! If you do not have a good set of reasons, then maybe you might want to rethink your position.
The above is true of just about any belief you may have.

As you can see by the number of responses, there are alot of atheists, most of them are really cool... it's completely sane and rational to be an atheist.
