HELLO, I have two pups I've kennel trained them for bedtime. Now all I do is say lets go to bed and they go right in there and go to sleep. It may take some work since your dog is use to be free at all times but it will work, stick with it. I even put them in there when I take my kids to school. I tell them time to take the kids to school I'll be back soon and the go right in the kennel. They're in the chewing stage so I don't like to leave them out alone. I'm a stay at home mom so it's is easier for me train pups. I have four dogs now and I trained the two older dogs also. It's kind of nice cause they favor me. Good Luck

Don't worry! This can be resolved. It will take some time and patience and dedication on your part. The trick is to catch her when she is "good". If there is even a short time she is quiet, give her a coveted treat. Maybe a couple bits of hotdog. Ignore her altogether when she is whining or barking. She will soon associate quiet with reward. It will take time, but it DOES work. Use a crate. Make it quiet happy place. Any attention, even negative, such as knocking on the cage is a stimulus...meaning it will give them a reason to continue the behavior. Any stimulus is better than none at all. Just like a human child. Give her a reason to look forward to being quiet. Accentuate the postive, eliminate the negative. A recipe for success. If you follow this advice, it will progress to eventually a happy quiet dog which means a happy you.

What I would do in this situation is, buy a dog crate. Not one to big, not one to small. The pet store can direct you which one to buy for the type and size of dog you have. Every night put the dog in the crate when you go to bed. At first, the dog will yelp, and cry. In 2-4 days, the dog will be used to the fact that this is where he sleeps. The dog will not pee or poo in the crate, because dogs hate going to the bathroom where they live. They don't like sitting in there stuff. If you do this and are consistant, you will start getting rest. Just remember, at first it will be like a kid...crying, whining, and fighting it to get its way. You must be consistant in order for this to work. In the morning, let the dog out. This can become a normal routine and good for both you and the dog.

A dog crate just her size will help alot. keep it in your room if she cries elsewhere. Dogs are social and want to be near you. Also a good half hour walk before bed should help tire her out so you all can get a good nights sleep

Get a bark collar to put on her at night so she can be outside, or use a muzzle, they can still eat and drink and pant, but it limits their barking ability. Also if you want to keep her inside, try the cages. Put lots of blankets and a toy or bone in there, and completley cover it with a thick blanket right when it is time to go to sleep. (kind of like you do with birds in bird cages) The blanket helps them know that it is time to be quiet. It might take a couple nights, but that is what I have to do with these two miniture pins that I watch sometimes. Good luck

like the others suggested get a cage for her and put a blanket or something over it so that way she knows "lights out" i wouldnt put her in the same room but thats your choice. it may be hard to fall asleep with her so close and maybe moving around. if she barks then hit the cage and tell her to be quite. you have to be athoritive and let her know whos boss. good luck it may take awhile if shes been spoiled. make a nice bed and she will be fine

Let her sleep with you & she will be out. My 8 m old Bk Lab pup has been sleeping between my hubby & I since we got her at 10 weeks!! She now sleeps with us or on the floor & soon we will be leaving the bedroom door open for her to come & go since she is getting older! Hope this helps!!

Crate train her and put the crate in your room so she can be close to you, but not on the bed. Once she get used to it, she won't bark because she won't be outside, lonely and reacting to every little thing that moves.

Sounds like you need to work on crate training her. It may take a few nights, but my dog goes straight to his crate at night. He's used to it and seems to like it. I have a comfy pillow in there for him to sleep on. He has food, water, toys, and an absorbant pad for bathroom use in case he needs it. Don't ever use the crate for punishment, though. Use it only for night use. Good luck.
