i was told they would cost 1600 dollars. how long do they last? how do they dissolve? do they become undone naturally? do they remain attractive? also can i take frequent showers with them? will they get dirty? thanks.

they last for around 6 weeks- then with the new growth of own hair the extensions have to be redone
no, they dont some undone by themselves or you'd see celebrities flinging lose hair and the photohogs having a field day capturing the embarrassing moment
they stay looking good IF you buy the expensive real hair
yes, you can wash hair in the shower- just be a little gentler with the blow dryer, flat iron..etc

i do hair extensions, I have seen some people transform into a different happier more self confidient person in a matter of hours, just from having long hair, they feel sexier and prettier.. not that only long hair is sexy, but i have seen this happen to some of my clients, are they worth it? that depends, if it lifts your spirits to the point i have witnessed i would say yes, but if it is your last 1600 dollars i would say no it shouldnt be a priority for you.. if you have the money and can afford it and it is something you really really want then i would say try it, the Great Lengths brand is worth it, the hair is high quality, also look for a stylist that does SO.Cap brand extensions, they are the same technique as Great Lengths but i feel they are of even better quality hair and usually less expensive than the Great Lenghts..
As far as other questions you asked, here is what i know. the bonds do not disolve, they break down over time and it is best to have them taken out after about 3-4 months., they do not become undone naturally, they wear out over time, shampoos conditioners, gel, mouse, oils, natural and otherwise and persperation will cause the bonds to break down. it is normal to loose about 4 to 5 strands a month after the first month..they grow out from your scalp so after 3-4 months they will need to be removed or replaced.
they will look very attractive, the thing is they bonds dont show. the do stay nice looking the entire time they are in with regular maintence and some TLC
you can shower daily and shampoo your hair daily, especialy if you use the specail shampoo available for hair extensions.
i have noticed that my clients who do not use the extension shampoo and shampoo daily tend to shed more than my clients who either use the special extension shampoo or dont shampoo more than 3 times a week...if you exercise alot or perspire on a daily basis i would recommend shampoo daily to remove the oils, but definately use a special shampoo for extensions... I know SO.Cap has a shampoo and conditioner available and would imagine Great Lengths has one to offer as well.
Yes they do get dirty...but as i said you can shampoo, you can also blow dry, flat iron, hot roll, curling iron....
I hope this helps!!!!

Nope, nothing is really worth anything except for time. Just saying. But, why bother with extensions? Short hair is cute! Play with your hair a little while you wait for it to grow out. You can leave it down, curl it, straighten it, waves, tie it with a ponytail, wear it in a bun, two braids, there are lots of better things you can waste your money on.

they are exactly like real hair. but i wouldn't suggest paying that much. i looked into getting permanent hair extensions and i found it would cost the around the same price as you have found. a great alternative is clip in hair pieces. i love them and they come at a fraction of the price. they are real human hair, so obviously still good quality. you can wash them if they need it, straighten them, curl them. basically treat them like you would your own hair. anyways i wear mine on special occasions, wen i got out and on the weekends. but they would be fine to wear everyday. i got them on this site an i would strongly recommend them. www.lovehairextensions.com
