Well I'm 23 female, active and eat a healthy diet, although the past few days I have been eating out almost every meal. I wouldn't say I'm constipated but I'm definitely not regular. The size and frequency is not what I would like it to be. Is this normal for someone my age or is there something possibly wrong?

It's from the massive amounts of take out food. Try eating a salad or 2 to get back to normal. Works for me!

Eating out means you aren't getting the roughage and fibre you need. You're probably not getting a lot of fresh fruit or vegetables either.
As an evening snack, an apple or some grapes will help your system get back on track.
When you eat out, stay away from the pastas, cream sauces, rich desserts, and heavy starches. More salads, lean chicken (if you eat meat), tomato sauces instead of cream ones, etc. A lot of meat will also play havoc with elimination and can cause constipation and irregularity.

I would think it is just your diet change. Add some fruit and fruit juice and lots of water. Dried fruit, such as apricots, work especially well. Also, when I have had this problem in the past due to taking narcotics I found a tea called "smooth move" that works very well. It can be found in health food stores.

I don't think there's anything serious going on there; it's normal to be constipated every once in a while. I recommend a mug of prune juice if you can find it - it's fantastic for people who suffer from constipation. Incorporate more fruits into your diet, choose high fibre breads, and get your 8 glasses everyday (drink more if you exercise alot). You'd be on your way to heathier bowel movements in no time.:)

You might want to try eating some Dannon Activia because it sounds like your digestive tract isnt regular and you need some acidopholus which are live cultures found in yogurt products and it is helpful for colon and digestive tract health. Get checked for Irritable bowel syndrome as well since a lot of women are affected by this disorder.

Try to increase your dietary fiber. You need about 10 to 13 grams for every 1000 calories.

Here is some more info on fiber.

Definitely drink more water, that always helps me. It might just be because you've been changing up your diet and eating out.
