Of course. My great-grandmother was half Cherokee and I never tire of telling people about my proud Cherokee heritage, even though I'm whiter than a daisy floating in milk. You are 1/16th Japanese. Be proud!

Yes, watered down though it might be through the ages, be proud of it. The Japanese culture is probably one of the most artistic and venerated on the planet. What they did at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893 still exists as an island in the lake in the park. The talk of the time was "to go to the Japanese Island because there were no electric lights, no garish displays, only peace and harmony". WW2 changed the concept. That was just a moment in time. The only building from that fair is now the Museum Of Science and Industry. It looks out over the artificial island built by Japan to signify their reality. Japan was the only country that exhibited "taste" into what was otherwise an extremely extravagant commercial, temporary pile of false crap. Yes, you are a bit Japanese. Revere it! Better yet cherish it!

Yes you are 1/16 Japanese, provided noone else in yur family is of Japanese descent. But to the Japanese, you will always be "gai-jin", a foreigner.

Listen, if you don't want to be Japanese, you don't have to be. But they have a strong and beautiful culture, and being part Japanese gives you a little extra exoticness.
The person above is correct that you are 1/16th Japanese, but it only means what you choose to make it mean.

Who you are depends on Who you come from. Because your relatives took part in raising and making other relatives who eventually may have raised you, then they are part of you. Appreciate who he was and that everyone who comes before you in your family is in you somewhere. It's a beautiful thing. Don't get too hung up on labels or names for what is it, but just that it's part of your history.
