Ask the seller "GEE, if THAT'S all it needs, why didn't you FIX it"????
A smart person sells a car with everything working. This deal sounds like someone has poured a ton of money into this car and it STILL has problems, so they are selling it as is just to get rid of it. KEEP LOOKING!

Hyundai has been around (in the U.S.) for 20 years now, and they are STILL struggling with reliability problems.

Depends. How much is the car? Also keep in mind it may need a new alternator because something else major isn't working. If all it really needed was an alternator, the owner would've already replaced it. Nobody (in their right mind) is going to buy a car that won't crank.

It depends on the price. you're looking at a ten year old car, some problems are bound to be there. I suggest that you put your emotional attachment to this car aside while the intellectual side of your brain decides what to do with it. I mean this in the kindest way because often out emotions get us into situations that are not the best. If your intellect agrees with your emotions, then make your best offer. It would be a good idea to have it checked by an independent credible mechanic first.

alternators are cheap in some cases, but think, why would they be selling it if it only needed that replaced, odds are that it could have more wrong with it than u think, ask the person if u could take it to a car shop and have them run a diagnostics test on it, it will cost u to run the test, but it will be worth it if you really want to buy it.

so far this car is cheaper based on that a alternator is only like 80$! but if there is that problem then u will most likely find a ton of problem with it. check it out and make sure your not buying a lemon

Yeah, find a car that has nothing wrong with it.
