Well, yeah the title basically says it all. I'm new to the team and I started lifting with them monday, but my arms are so sore that I could barely lift anything today. Any tips on how I could prevent soreness or "decrease" it?

Not knowing exactly what you did, it's difficult to say exactly! How much weight did you lift? How many sets did you do? It reads as if you may have lifted too much weight and did too many reps! Lighten everything up! It's normal to be sore when first beginning a lifting routine, but you probably went to heavy to start. Lighten the weights to prevent injury-you can seriously hurt yourself if you go too heavy too soon.
Remember to give your muscles a day of rest before resuming the routine, they need the recovery, don't work them every day!

Dont lift every day. You should have a break of at least 48 hours before working a bodypart again. You are suffering from a lactic acid build up which occurs in muscles when they are torn down from liting. Lactic acid leaves the muscles in a vulnerable state - You MUST rest them till they r no longer sore before you lift again. Take creatine and glutamine in a whey isolate protein powder to heal em up faster.

yes, take glutamine a few times a day, esp. about an hour before you work out, right after a workout, and right before you go to sleep. it helps cut down on the breakdown of the muscle, as well as the soreness. also drink protein shakes right after you lift. The protein will help you rebuild muscle more quickly, which helps because it is little tears in the muscle that makes you sore.
