There are size A batteries, size C batteries as well as size D batteries. Why did size B batteries get skipped?

B batteries were not skipped. They just aren't popular any more.

B batteries were used in tube radios.

they were an odd sized battery and the manufacturers found the others more sutable to uses

they didn't the are not used in most consumer electronics for reasons of size and capacity. check out some military specs to see them in use.
