they were 2 religious groups, they held different points of view regarding live after death amongst other things, this site goes into more detail. jesus wasn't on any side,he came to perfect the law,he rebuked both groups quite often. jesus was a threat to them and so they tried to ensnare him many times until they finally bribed judas and had him crucified.

The Sadducees were a group of Jewish people who believed only in the books of the Law, they did not believe in the Resurrection. They opposed Jesus and His ministry as did the Pharisees.
The Sadducees upheld the Law and the Pharisees upheld the prophets

Choose: The Sadducee's and the Pharisees were religious products arising from the legalistic process, from observing the Laws, Statutes and Commandments of both, the Old Covenant of the Bible and the multi-layered, man-made Jewish laws of their own Talmud (Jewish law). One group was of the religious branch and the other (Sadducee's) were of the legal branch. Their main focus was on "do's and don'ts" - the physical applications (void of spirituality) [legalism] of the Old Covenant Practices. Jesus Christ was introducing the SPIRITUAL applications and intents of God's Laws, based in LOVE for both, God, the Father and for human kind, which the Old Covenant failed to attain to. The result between the two mind sets was a clash. The imbibers of the Old Covenant mindset went on to eventually, have Jesus murdered. Jesus Christ's mind set was one of love and forgiveness, as depicted by His dieing words during His death on the cross. The Jews message was one of RACE while Jesus Christ's ministry was one of GRACE. Jesus will return to this earth again - He will be the victor.

Jesus was on neither side.
The Pharisees were like the high priests: the religious. The Sadducees were the people of law.
Jesus supported neither side because many were corrupt and/or hypocrites.

Both were Hebrew priests. the Sadducees did not believe in resurrection and the Pharisees did. Neither were very fond of Jesus because he came to fulfill the very Law they bickered over.

One believed in a physical resurrection and the other believed in a spiritual resurrection. Jesus had a lot bigger problem with the Pharisees than he did the Sadducee's so figure it out from there............Jesus stood up against the religious authority of his time as he does against the religious authority of the present time.......Seek within self, not within religion.

Pharisees... the far right... religious without the love of God They were scupulously religous about rules but not heart
the only thing they agreed about was they didnt like Jesus
