I've tattooed myself, but it was as part of an apprenticeship. I ended up tattooing myself at home, but it was with a professional machine and with ink made for tattooing. I've covered u some "at home" jobs... a razor blade and ash ("rubbing") will stay, but it looks rather jagged and is a lot more painful than a professional tattoo would be, even with a heavy-handed artist.

Just wait until you're 18 and save your money for a few weeks... I'll be worth it.

Serious complications can result if you attempt to do a tattoo yourself, have a friend do it for you, or have it done in any unclean environment. Because tattooing involves injections under the skin, viruses such as HIV and hepatitis B and C can be transferred into your body if proper precautions aren't followed. For this reason, the American Red Cross and some other blood banks require people to wait 12 months after getting a tattoo before they can donate blood.

If you've thought about it and decided you want a tattoo, go to a professional tattoo shop. Also, remember that getting and maintaining a tattoo involves some responsibility — after you leave the tattoo shop, it's up to you to protect and treat it to prevent infections or other complications.

Yes, after all, a tattoo is just pigment injected into the skin. However, I would suggest not doing one yourself.
First of all, you'd probably get a better image if you had it done professionally.
Secondly, you run risk of infection and oher complications if you do not sanitize properly, like with an autoclave.
Third, if you don't go deep enough, it can fade, and if you go too deep, it can look blurry.
Fouth, some spots are really hard to reach on your own.
Fifth, not just any ink ill work or will be tolerated by your skin.
So there are a few reasons why you shouldn't do your own. However, if you are going to any way, it is possible. I myself have some dots tattooed in my skin from pressing too hard and poking through my skin on accident while drawing on it wih a dip pen and india ink. And some people do their own with sewing needles and pins, etc. But I still believe you should get a pro-job over a home-made.

Yes but it hurts way worse and it never turns out as good. I have a tattoo from a homemade tattoo gun.

Never use homemade unless you know how to sterilize the proper way.

Don't do it. One of my friends from high school did 2 homemade 'tattoos' and they look awful. She hates them, but doesn't have the money to get them removed.

Go to a professional. A tattoo is for life. If you're not old enough, wait. It's worth it.

Self tattoos are awful looking!

I dated an older girl for awhile, and she had several home done/self done tattoo's. I asked about them, and she told me she did them with a piece of cotton thread wrapped around a guitar string dipped in ink from a ball point pen. Not really sure what to believe from her anymore, but they were there fromthe time she was 17, and up, and even her first one was still there, and faded very little. She's now in her early 40's. She did a good job tho if she actually did it. Surprises me because she couldn't even draw stick figures, but the text lettering on her arm, thigh and breast was almost perfect. depends on your ability I guess

I know alot of people that have homemade tattoo's...trust me they usually just turn into a giant scab and fall off. Why not spend the money to get one done professionally done. Looks better too.

take a steel string, like a stick and put a point on to it. rub the skin down with 100% alcohol. if you don't the string will give you an infection. make sure the string has a sharp tip with a bull. bull is about 4 to 5 time larger then the tip that holds the ink when you dip it, to when you break the skin the bull slices it open an puts the ink in. for every 1/8 of an inch there should be 10 to 15 pricks of the string. as soon as the blood comes out wipe it off because it will dilute the ink. do about 2 square inches every other night to make sure that figure comes out the way you want it. for cover ups - you should wait two weeks to do it, you can get blood disorder hart attack or permanent finger numbness it not - too much ink in one spot is bad

Self tatoos, well unless your a pro artist and have amazing concentration and can find a kit.....NO WAY. It cost way to much to have them removed if you screw it up. Go for temporary tatoos like henna if you really want a do it yourself...plus you can change them....
