1 John 2:1 "Little children sin not, but if you sin you have an advocate with the Father who is in Heaven." You are only forgiven when you go to God and ask Him to. Luke 17:4 "If another person wronged you seven times in one day and ask for forgiveness each time, you must forgive that person, even so that you will be forgiven by God." So forgiveness is very important in Christianity.

Great question, I believe repentance comes from a new heart given to us by the Holy Spirit. It's a struggle for the Christian where before there was no such yearning to be more like Christ. To be sorry for one's sins is what sets the Christian apart from the unbeliever. Yes it has value, we do stray, and we're not by any means holy or deserving of God's kingdom. Our lives are a constant self-examination and exhortation to live a life after God's heart.

Being sorry is different than being repentant. You can be sorry and still sin. Being repentant means that you're sorrowfulness for wrong-doing is turning you away from the sin. Repentance means to turn away from the sin. It is a change of heart whereas being sorry is just an emotion.

YES.
No, God does not forgive us anyway. We need to accept Him as our Lord and Savior and turn away from our old ways. The point is that without repentance we have not accepted Him. We need to show Him that we serve Him.

The Apostle Paul thought so:
"Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead,"
(Acts 17:30,31)

you're kidding. it's basically the focal point!
God said that if you don't forgive others, He won't forgive you, so forgiveness is dependant. Repentance = sorry + change: if you say sorry and then continue in sin, not only are you trying to abuse God's forgiveness, but also trying to nullify the "spiritual contract" of salvation, in which you accept Christ as LORD and Savior (Lord is owner).
and the Scriptures call one who is saved and then sins like a dog returning to its vomit. it damages your relationship with God, as all sinning does, and can lead to one of the worst situations an ex-Christan or "Christian" can be in: salt that has lost its saltiness.
the church doesn't want you, the world doesn't want you: you're basically of little to know use, unless you're used as an example of what not to become. you're untrustworthy, living in carnality, and often considered on the fence. undesireable.

Absolutely! God forgives us when we ASK him to. To repent means that we ask for forgiveness from our sins and we turn away from them. God's forgiveness is readily available for all of us, when we ask Him!
In Christ,

Whoever said that we need no repentance has NOT read the same BIBLE that I am reading. There is more to salvation than just saying "I Believe". Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. We must HEAR GOD’s WORD. - Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2. We are told to BELIEVE. - To the Prison guard in Acts 16:31 Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
3. We must REPENT (turn from) of our sins. - Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.
4. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST before men. - Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
5. We are to enter the waters and BE BAPTIZED. - Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
6. We are told to CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL until death. - Revelation 2:10b Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great evening and a wonderful day tomorrow!
Thanks,
Eds

I rejoice that God forgives me of my sin, however, if I continue in habitual or willful sin, I offend God and bring Gods chastisement. God will not allow a believer to continue in sin.
Just as a earthly parent will not allow a child to disobey.
We also lose heavenly rewards when we willfully sin, such as the "Crowns" spoken of in the book of Revelation. There are earthly and eternal consequences for unrepentant or willful sin. Once we are saved by the blood of Christ Jesus, we are eternally secure, but a sinful life will lead to discipline by God Almighty. Also, we choose to better ourselves because we know that willful sin offends God and if we truly Love Him, we will obey Him and live a life that is pleasing to Him.
God Bless You....Peace.
