when I asked a minister about this, he referred me to the story in the bible where the adulterous woman is taken to Jesus and He says let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Many Christians do not display the virtues (the singular you use has no meaning) for the same reasons that other people do not. The virtues have to be learned, they take time to acquire, and they can only develop in a community where they are valued. American society possesses few communities where that can take place because most people, including most Christians, are interested in following principles or rules. People are interested in their "rights." What has happened is that western culture makes many vices into virtues. For example, Americans by and large esteem acquisitiveness. When vices are valued people become prey to their own wants and desires, and in this Christians are no different.

Gods plan for this world involves many people doing many different things. If we all just left our homes and went to help the impoverished nations, who would be remaining to run hospitals, schools, Police Departments and the local churches? God calls some people to Minister, some people to Preach His Word, some people to be Architects, some people to be Caregivers, some people to be Parents and Teachers. Not everyone can have the same job or the Body of Christ would suffer. I think it speaks loudly that the United States gives more money and aid to third world countries, than all other countries combined. This money comes from American taxpayers who are blessed by God with abundance and who choose to freely give and help others.
Besides my taxes, I willingly and joyfully give money to many organizations that help the poor and impoverished around the globe. I feel this is my duty as a Christian and as a human being. I feel that the neighboring countries of these impoverished nations ought to do more to help their own people. The USA does more than its share and uninformed comments such as yours, do not deter me from giving my time and money to help others.
God Bless You...Peace.

No one should set themselves of as an example to others, this is exactly what the Pharisee's and Sadducee's had done.
Christians are people just like everyone else. Almost everyone in America is very generous to other Countries only Americans are getting fed up with it because other Countries just act like we are stupid for giving to them and they don't even like Americans, would you continue to be generous to someone who only spit on you? Other countries need to fix their own countries and quit relying on America. America don't even take care of their own and there is plenty of suffering here as well as everywhere else. Why should Christians be the only ones to do anything? Christians have shown much in the way of actions and deeds, why don't you recognize that?

We must be patient and wait for our tasks to be assigned and we must complete the one before us and then we will be given another. We are not given every thing to accomplish all at once. A vision of our ultimate purpose perhaps, but we must stay and finish the task at hand.

If GOD who speaks to me tells me to sell my house and move to Africa I shall.

there are enough impoverished people in the world without me selling everything and moving in to a povertized nation begging for sponsors. I can do better here.

I do help others thru different charities. Do you know how much money and food is sent to third world countries, only for it to be seized by their governments? Boatload upon boat load.

there's lots of actions, you just don't see it. there are missions over seas who go to bring medical supplies/help establish communities/educate the people/feed the hungry/clothe the naked/contribute to the economy in third world countries, as well as those who run the homeless shelters/clothe the naked/etc in their own community.

ever heard of the Salvation Army? please stop judging.
