Wow, I am so sorry for you. a migraine is debilitating and awful. There are various medicines available, some that you take every day, and some that you take at the onset of the pain. Yes. Medicine to prevent migraines may be helpful if your headaches happen more than twice a month or if your headaches make it hard for you to work and function. Examples of medicines used to prevent migraines include propranolol (brand name: Inderal), timolol (brand name: Blocadren), divalproex (brand name: Depakote) and some antidepressants.
You may be able to get medicine through one of the drug company programs.
You might want to look into a drug trial as well.
Meanwhile, i have found that pseudophed helps, and benedryl as well, Ice on the back of the neck. put a damp towel in the microwave, warm it, and put it on your head, and lots of advil. I hope you feel better, i know that migraines are terrible, and the fear of them really ruins your day.

My ex is an orthopedic MD who does a treatment called Neuro-Cranial Restructuring. I am a massage therapist who did the adjunctive care to prepare the patient for the treatment, and have had the treatment myself.

My experience with our giving the treatment is that everyone who presented with headaches or migraines got much relief and for most a cessation of the headaches. In fact, one of our patients confided to me that he had tried everything to get rid of the incessant pain, and had we not helped him, he was prepared to commit suicide. Now, that is not even on the radar screen!!!

The hitch is that it is not covered by insurance, and you have to go to the office for 4 days in a row for a treatment series.

You did not say where you live. The originator of the treatment is Dr. Dean Powell, who lives in Washington State. I received treatment from a chiropractor in San Antonio TX, and my ex's practice is in Houston TX. We both studied under Dr. Powell.

Good luck to you.
