My suitemate just went to the bathroom and her urine was a burnt orange color. She has a UTI but could there be something seriously wrong with her? Should she go to the hospital?

She drank plenty of water and she hasn't started taking any meds yet.

I assume that she already went to the doctor if she knows she has a UTI. If this is the case and she is taking antibiotics she needs to wait a couple of days for them to work, and she needs to take them every time she is supposed to take them without missing any. If she misses one she needs to catch it up.
If she has been taking antibiotics or has finished a course of antibiotics and still has dark urine and symptoms she needs to go back to the doctor. Her urine needs to be tested to find out what exactly the infection is.
The orange color could be blood in the urine. When the vessels of the kidney become inflamed they can allow blood cells to slip through the vessel walls. Normal healthy kidneys do not allow this. The orange color could also be related to the type of antibiotic she takes or various types of food and drink. If it continues regularly or becomes obviously red she really needs to get her case reviewed. Kidneys are precious.

The color is normal with a UTI, especially if they've given her pyridium (an anesthetic for UTI's). If it doesn't clear up and/or she's having alot of pain, suggest she see a Doctor. She may want to also drink plenty of water to help clear the infection and cranberry juice is excellent! If at any time her urine gets reddish, take her to a Doctor right away, as this could be blood.

I would suggest that if she hasn't gone to the Dr's yet, then she needs to go, EZO is not a medicine other than to releave the pain caused by a UTI, she will still need antibiotics to clear up the UTI.

Another thing that causes dark urine is the Liver if the liver is compromised in anyway it will cause the urine to be a darker cooler, the only way to find which it is is to go to the Doctors.

If she is taking a medication called Pyridium, it could change the colour of her urine. It is used to relieve the discomfort associated with a UTI.

Drink WATER and CRANBERRY JUICE! Dark urine is one of the symptoms of a uti. She should take antibiotics that contain sulfur, and drink lots of water and cran juice and sugar free powerade.

That happened to me once when I drank too much orange soda...I think she should drink enough water. She should divide her weight by the number 2 and that's the amount of ounces she should be drinking! It will help flush her bladder out.
