asking for a guy friend in DESPERATE need!?

im only in high school, but my bestfriend is confused n no idea wat to do.he was together for a year and three months with this girl and he was in love with her. and 6 months ago she cheated on him when she went on vacation. she didnt tell him. he found out on his own a cpl wks ago when this all hpnd.. he lost all that trust he had with her, of course how can you have a relationship if he knew he would be questioning everything she says to him now. he had to break up with her. now he feels like he 'went about' the whole 'break up' wrongly. the part where he feels he went wrong, is when he kept talking to her, and meeting up with her b4 school, afterschool, and sometimes talking on the phone for a bit. he just told everyone it helped him get over it. the truth is, it really didnt. he feels like he cant completely cut her off now, cuz he would be left wonderin what/how shes doing & he says its hard 4 him 2 walk away from it all. he wants wat they ~had~
he's totally stuck. PLEASEHELP HIM

okay basically im asking what he should do to move on and be able to walk away from it all without being a complete jerk AND do the right thing..???

The best thing he can do is not talk to her even if they are in the same class... And after that go find another girl

I am not trying to minimize this problem but for one it will be okay becuase they would have mostlikely broken up anywhere during college and everyone always says that "you don't know these twom they were perfect for eachother." but the truth is my man they probably were not otherwise she would not have cheated on him. The fact is that were all human and what he should realize that she cheated on him for a reason,most likely because she wanted a "carefree" fling, but their is no such thing. The highest form of love is when someone loves another person so much that their willing to let them go. If she cheated she did not want to be with him so if he cares he will make it easy and stap aside with grace and let her find out what she needs. In the meantime he needs to know that he deserves more and even though the pain of a broken heart is great it is by far the shortest term pain their is.
