Ok I have been feeling rapid heart beat and severe restlessness, almost hyperactivity inside, for 3 months. I am gettin galot of bloodwork doen for it, but my doctor thougth it was anxiety ( it isn't I am positive ) My cortisol came back high, so he is testing it again, can anyone tell me if there is a natural way ( vitamins minerals, foods ) that can lower cortisol, and/or if it isn't cushings disease, what else could raise cortisol, other than stress? Thanks so much!

Hi cortisol is an indication of Cushing's syndrome.
There are no natural ways to treat this .
The next test you need is an 24 hour urine free cortisol NOT a blood test.I was misdiagnosed two times with the blood test.

Check out : www.cushings-help.com
They have so much information and are a great group of people.
I'd like to know how things go with you. Please email me and let me know what happened.
Good luck.

Hello...no, there is nothing "natural" to lower cortisol. Stress will raise cortisol but should not raise it to out of range on labs. I don't think that is your problem either. Cortisol can be raised by either a problem with your adrenals or with your pituitary (usually more other hormones affected then just cortisol). And yes, you need to go to another Dr....look for a good endocrinologist (there are not many) and check your symptoms in this table to see if you have pituitary symptoms: http://www.goodhormonehealth.com/symptoms/gland_hormone_symptom_table.html Good luck.

Supposedly, the herb relora can lower cortisol. That is the main ingredient in a lot of diet pills like cortislim. I have heard studies that it really works, so I would try that. Just try to get plain relora (it's also called magnolia bark), if you get the diet pills, they all have caffeine. Good luck!
