Everyone is telling me not to, but I wanted to see if there was a wife who actually did this to hear first hand what it was like for her?

my husband is in AIT in fort leonard wood and i am right here in a hotel room about 6 miles from base. It is very lonely, but you may get to see him on the weekends. It is different with every unit and base. All i can say is have a hobby if you decide to do it and be prepared to be alone alot! Good Luck!

I moved with my spouse while he was in AIT. We spent some week-ends together when he got a pass, or the day when he was off for payday activities. We were at Ft. Sam Houston. He was not permitted to travel unaccompanied off post. The PCS was 16 weeks!! I should of finished another semester at home instead of following him around

I didn't and I am only going to move to be with him if he goes warrant because the training is a year long, but they get nights and weekends off. In AIT he got some weekends but not nights, and I was in school and the military wouldn't pay for the move, and so why bother... for Warrant they pay for the move, it is actually a PCS move and they pay for housing.

No. They only get a little more freedom than basic and it just wasn't worth it for 8-13 weeks. We've move every two years since though!
