Do you fart or use the restroom in front of your significant other?

Weird question but I am really curious......I was married for 10 years and we NEVER farted in front of each other, not when we were awake anyway :-). He would never even pee in front of me. My friend says this is insanity and crackes up because she thinks that it indicates a level of discomfort. Others say it is respectful to pass gass elsewhere (obviously) but that it was weird that he didn't even feel comfortable peeing in front of me. I mean we never even went in the bathroom when the other person was in there.

We are split up now and I am seeing someone who is kind, polite, sweet, etc....but he will fart in front of me!! It is sort of funny because I was shocked at first but then another friend said it meant he was comfortable so it was a good thing. He is not a pig or anything and we have known each other for years but I was curious what others do...

I have wondered about this as well, I have couples for friends that go both ways on this.

I personally try to never fart around girlfriends (accidents happen though) and all of mine have avoided this as well. I think it's because we were raised to believe it's polite and good manners, not at all a comfort issue. I could see how someone could be raised differently and treat it pretty much the opposite, it would make me uncomfortable though.

As for using the restroom, I am not a shy guy but prefer my privacy there. I can pee in front of anyone (don't ask) but anything else I prefer to be alone, I just never want to risk grossing out my woman. I have had girlfriends that insisted on me going into the restroom with them to keep a conversation going while they sat there, but I am VERY uncomfortable with that. I don't say anything because I realize it's not "wrong" and my discomfort is because of my upbringing, and I always get over it easily.

I would think you could ask your bf to stop that in front of you in a very nice way, without it looking like a criticism or that he's doing something wrong, just blame it on your upbringing or a weakness in yourself to take the attention off of him. Or, take the easy way out - tell him it doesn't bother you when he farts, you think it's funny. And funny is not sexy (he'll get the hint).
