This is very easy to understand because they want to have a reason to set up permanent bases there. This can be backed up by Pentagon documents. Who benefits from this- big oil and arms builders.

And you thought this up all by your self?

You got anything to back this up buckwheat? Or are you one of these people who does not need facts?

Obviously, these other answers are cluelessly, idiotically uninformed.

The US military currently operates over 700 overseas military bases in 130 countries around the globe. This number is growing annually. Not something you would know if you're always watching Fox, CNN, or other propagandistic mainstream media.

737 bases, 130 countries. Goddamn mind-boggling. Paid for by 50% of our tax dollars, since "National Defense" spending gobbles up 50% of our Big Government's budget.

Anybody who thinks the US is spending billions of dollars on bases in the 2nd biggest oil rich country in the world, just to serve as "temporary bases" to be dismantled until the war is over....is a politically & militarily naive idiot.

Nobody needs Pentagon documents to see that.

thats a bunch of bull crap. you don't know what your talking about because if you knew that was backed up by pentagon documents you would have to have access to those documents and if you do have access to those documents then you just violated several federal laws by revealing classified information. but i saw you don't know what your talking about.
