If you don't like the name your parents have picked for you change it. It is a fairly simple process. You can go to your local courthouse (most have a self help center) and pick up the paperwork. Just fill it out and submit it, you will be notified when you have a hearing.

Even if you decide to change your name when you're old enough (you can do this at age 18 in most places - just costs money), as others have said, they need to call you something in the meantime! You need a name for various legal reasons. You can't go to school, get ID or a driver's license without a name.

The reason parents pick your name is because you can't. However, when you are allowed to change your name legally once you are 18 and if you are under 18 you will need parents consent...pretty simple

Because if you got to choose your own name when you got older then you wouldn't have a name for the first 10 plus years of your life. Alot of people would have names like "Barney" or "Batman" because they would choose names that they saw on t.v, LOL!

If you had to wait until you were old enough to pick your own name, what would people call you for the first few years of your life? If it was me, I'd call you "Stupid" or "Little Stupid", I know ........ how about "Dumb or Dumber"?

Because the minute your parents find out that you are on your way, nearly every second is spent picking out the perfect name for their new bundle of joy. So you should thank your parents for your name.

You can legally change your name if you want to. Call the birth certificate office and ask about it. Take care Heather

If your parents don't want you to change it now, wait until you are of age and change it yourself. In the meantime you can have your friends call you whatever you want your name to be.
