We have 2 puppies that were born in December. They've grown ALOT and {Oh yeah, only 2 survived...1 boy, 1 girl} The male puppy is very rough, aggresive, just straight up mean. The female puppy is rough but not as rough as the male. We are thinking of putting the male to sleep or giving it away. I don't want to, the male belongs to my little sister and I don't want her to have to give up her puppy. Mine is the female and I think I could keep her under control but I want to know something just in case.
Soon they will be really big, They are a Lab/Chow Mix. With one being mean like it is, as I said, it either has to be put asleep or givin away.
I need some good information on how to train a dog. A flick on the nose and a newspaper swat does no good. Pro info will be appreciated. SERIOUS answers will be greatfully appreaciated. If you found your answer on a website, plz post a link.
{When I say training I mean, Bathroom & Obedience}
Thanks!!!

Thanks to miss smartass Vola or what the f*** ever, I have to write more details. NO! I don't expect a puppy to be perfect, others however, in my family do. I just want to train him so he doesn't have to be put asleep. If your that dumb and can't answer one simple question, why are you here? Don't waste my time.

Vale's answer is the best one you'll get. You MUST think of them as toddlers. They are not automaticly born with the ability to understand what is acceptable and what is not. WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF SOCIALIZATION AND TRAINING. And if I were you, I would do some SERIOUS research on those topics. In all honestly though, putting him to sleep is should not even be an option right now. If dogs lived by themselves, they would do whatever they want. But they live with humans and it is the HUMANS responsability to teach them how to behave...no matter how long it takes.
No offence but this is why dog pounds are sooo overcrowded and soooo many pets are put down each year. People think getting a dog is like getting a goldfish. As long as it gets fed everyday, theres nothing to it. They don't take the time to do the research on everything that goes into raising a dog. I've work at pet stores for over 4 years and when people come up to me with thier new puppy and ask what they need for it, 99% freak out because they didn't realize how big of a time, financial, and personal commitment it is. Average amount of money you spend on a dog throught its life is appx. $17,000. Before you think $17,000? She must have made a typing mistake. Think about it...cost of dog, food, shots, grooming, toys, leashes, collars and MUCH more for their ENTIRE LIFE. Some Dogs can live up to 17+. years.
Best advise: Be CONSISTANT and PATIENT!!

I have to say, how is them buying the sick puppies in mass amount *any* different than a human purchasing a puppy from a pet shop, or directly from the mill? If they are that dedicated, why can't they track the pups somehow (may sound farfetched) so whenever a shelter gets ahold of a suspected puppy mill puppy, they can step in and rescue from there. It might not be much, but it would be a start. Puppy mill puppies need a *lot* of extra care, and I'm happy they provide it, but they could go about it in a MUCH better way.

I have a german shepherd that went through that. I took him to another breeder to be sure that he was stable. You might want to find someone like I did and be sure that he doesn't need to be put to sleep. Aggression at an early age is not a good sign. Start on a very short lead with a pinch collar. Pinch collar will not hurt them, and are not inhumane. Use a 1/2 gallon plastic milk jug with a few pennies or marbles in it. With the puppy on a the lead, and the pup starts that aggression put the jug close to the pup and shake it and in a stern voice say no. If you don't feel comfortable with working with him look in your area for a trainer/handler. Never strike or hit the puppy. This will have the reverse effect that your hoping for. Good luck.

Unfortuantely, there is no easy answer.. However, you are on the right track by realizing that you need help. Many trainers will do basic obedience, however, they are not knowledgable in dealing with aggression. My SERIOUS suggestion to you is to contact Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer). He has a web site and you may even be able to get help for free from him by applying to be on his show. Check out the National Geographic website as they should have a link to apply, since they host his show... Good Luck

If you can, get a DVD called The Dog Whisperer. I'm not talking about Cesar Milan. You want the Paul Owens dvd. He uses completely positive, non-violent training methods. Another one that is good is Karen Pryor's Clicker Training. If you can't buy books and dvd's right now, see what your local library has.
The more you work with your puppies on basics the easier it will be for you to get them to behave.

welcome to the world of puppies. Or dogs in general for that matter. Im sick of hearing of people like you. Seriously. Expecting to get a dog thats already trained and well behaved. You should ask your mum how you were when you were a kid: this should answer your question.
And yeah, you also need a trainer. If yu really want to spend your money without doing the work and still call it YOUR DOG. Sorry if im harsh but seriously, a dog is a person.

How can you put him to sleep. That is cruel!
Train him, spend time with him, be patient with him.
He is a pup. Puppies are aggressive because they are learning where they fit in and how they fit in! My pup was biting me so hard I still have scars. Trained her, now she is amazing and docile and loving and the best. Take her for training if you can't do it. Good luck!

well if they live inside the house, get your puppy and place her on the newspaper or the mat that they are suposed to use the bathroom on. then say pee. If she pees, praise her. So when she gets bigger she will know the right place to use the bathroom. But if she used the bathroom on the carpet, say no and put her in the cage till 10 min, had past.
To teach her how to sit is when you say sit and if she doesn't, push softly her bottom down and praise her.
But the most important thing to know is thet she has to learn that if you say no, that means that it is bad.

your local vet can help in this. There is always a notice board in the clinic if the vets don't offer obedience classes. Oh yeah stop hitting with the newpaper.
