I always feel like I have to clear my throat or cough. What could be the problem? And how do I cure it?

You probably have a sinus drip. Because of allergies, irritants, etc..you can develop a sinus drip in the back of your throat. Any decongestant/sinus/allergy medication will help. Over the counter is a good place to start, if that's not strong enough you'll have to see a doc for a script. (Zyrtec, for example).

Do you live in an area that has a high allergy index? Some areas are higher in pollen, dander, cedar etc..... so that would be one guess. Usually with allergies, though, you would have other symptoms such as watery eyes and nasal congestion and sneezing. If it's just isolated to your throat, I'd say something in your house or around your house is causing irritation. Even dust bothers some people. So first, take care of allergens in your house. Dust often, get an air purifier and cover your bedding with plastic to reduce dust mites. If you are also having problems with your lungs, you could be allergic to cigarette smoke. Even if you don't smoke, second hand smoke can cause irritation. Also if you live in a highly populated city, you could be sensitive to exhaust from cars and industrial air pollution. Hope this helps!
