Because it is a screwed up religion they also allow the killing of infidels, anyone who is not a Muslim.

1. Allah did not allow Muhammad to have any concubines, nor mistresses. Anything other than a wife is forbidden.
2. Throughout the life of Prophet Muhammad(saws) he had a total of 9 wives. His first wife, Khadija, was his only wife and he had no others during her lifetime. He took other wives after her because a.)it was ordained by Allah, and 2.)to solve specific social problems. Ayesha was the only virgin among them all. The rest of them were widowed or divorced.
3. When Islam was revealed, men were taking much more than 4 wives and also having mistresses as well. Islam came to put a stop to all that to limit the number to 4, but only if the man adhered to rules laid down.

He married most of these women (after Khadija died) because of political or social reasons. And he married them BEFORE it was revealed to him by Allah that man should onl be limited to 4 wives.
