I am a recovered anorexic. When I was in an eating disorder program they made me gain weight because I was not healthy. I am 5'2 and I started at 106 pounds and went down to 86. When I left the program after being in and out of it for about 7 months (it was from 9am-6pm) my weight was at 106. But after being in the program I learned that weight does not matter as much as the way you look. I could even still wear a few of the clothing I had worn when I was 86 pounds. So if 180 pounds is not right for your height then I do not think you will have to be there. But 90 sounds too low. Just trust your doctors, they do know whats best.
And another thing, it really does not help if you are weighing yourself throughout treatment. I tried it and did weigh myself at home while I was in the program and it does not help your recovering at all.
Good luck!

Both of your weights were a reflection of extreme eating habits. You didn't get to 180 without going through all the numbers before it.
Weight is the result of calories in vs. calories burned. When you get to your optimal weight, just keep an eye on what you're eating. If you go 5-10 lbs over your goal, slack off a LITTLE on how much you eat.
I don't recommend counting calories, but if you are, keep in mind that it takes 10 calories per pound of body weight to maintain that weight in a sedentary (non-moving) person. As your weight goes up, you'll need more and more calories to keep it increasing. That's why I say keep an eye on your weight. If you stop gaining at 90 lbs, you'll need to increase your intake a LITTLE. Same thing if you overshoot your target weight.
Like the other answerer said, after a while, you should gain more slowly (and lose more slowly). So don't pig out to increase weight or starve to lose. It takes a while for your weight to stabilize at any given number.
EDIT: 'hotwheel' is headed for the same condition you're recovering from. There is no way in hell to maintain a healthy diet and an exact weight. Her 'corrections' means that she doesn't eat for 2 days. She is obsessed with her weight, which is also mentally unhealthy. The older she gets, the more 'corrections' she is going to have to make, and she will end up anorexic.

You could go back to 180 if you fall back into the same old eating patterns. Fat cells never die. They simply shrink and wait to be filled up again. This is why it is so hard to lose weight and keep it off.
Once you get to your desired weight (say 120ish) knock off the sugars and processed foods. (no McDonald's, harvey's, burger king, etc) Eat healthy. You'll be ok. At any rate 180 is certainly healthier than 75.

not likely, but you do need some more weight, your body needs something to live off of and you do not have any supplies for it to use. if you were to become ill, the body needs stored food to nourish itself to a healthy outcome, your bones and muscle need food, don't get discouraged by feeding them.
I'm over 180 and loosing just 40 would make me sooo happy, but you know, i've been thin and wouldn't starve myself to get back there, my kids love me for me and so do I.
have a scoop of your favorite ice cream and enjoy it, good for the soul.

I suggest eating right and keep exercising, you will be fine.... be careful, please do not starve yourself you are doing yourself more harm than anything.... and remember YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, whether you are 75lbs(not a good idea though, being extremely skinny has just as many health risk as being obese) or 180... Make sure to weigh yourself every single day. If your weight exceeds your ideal weight, stop eating before it's too late. I lost 30lbs from starvation and haven't gained any weight back for 2 years. I weigh myself naked every moring to make sure that I stay the same weight. If I gain a pound or two, I always correct it in next few days.

it is unlikely that you will go back to 180. I suggest working with a multi-disciplinary treatment team. I see a physician, dietician, psychologist (therapist), and psychiatrist.
take care of yourself.
