Well, simply put, food is being advertised to the kids twenty four seven. Unhealthy food is being advertised all through tv. That is the bottom line.

Many are not as active as they could be. They are hauled around in cars instead of walking or biking to their destination. The current rage of video games is, unfortunately, a very sedentary activity, as is TV watching and computer use. Frequently both parents work full-time jobs so meals are less likely to be prepared at home, thus the reliance on KFC, McDonald's, and the like.

It's not just kids, it's adults and even pets too. It all boils down to lack of exercise and too much food. The lack of exercise is because of too much TV and video games and too much food comes partly from boredom and portion sizes. I recently did some research on how portion sizes have changed since the 1980's and it was pretty shocking. They've almost doubled! Fast food hamburgers and fries (and not just McD's) have gotten twice as big as they used to be. That alone will pack on the pounds. When my family eats at a fast food place, we'll usually just order one large french fry, dump it out on a couple of napkins and everyone shares it.

im 14, and it sickens me to see how the kids at my school eat, and all the soda tehy drink, and you are right, mostly every kdis you see is overweight, and i think its mainly their parents fault for not teaching them good eating habits, and letting them stay overweight adn also most of the ads are for high fat, greese sugar filled foods and you dont typically see any healthy food commercials or walk down the street and not see a mcdonalds bilboard or whatever, and also the quality of the fast food is just terrible and no wonder its so cheap, becuse its made with the most disgusting and cheapest foods ever, and its fried and gross. also most teens and children and even their parents eat unhealthy and dont even check labels or anything to see if what their eating is healthy or not

little or no physical ed programs in the school systems, as well as a lack of healthy foods being served in schools. parents allowing too much junk food, too many kids are sitting in front of the tv or playing video games instead of playing outside...riding bikes, going to the park, etc. it's really sad, as many obese kids are being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

kids are obese because of their parents. the schools aren't making them fat and neither is mcdonalds. McDonalds gives a nice portion size, but the amount of food that we order contributes to the weight.

Because there are too many reasons to stay indoors. TV, computers, video games. Parents are to blame--completely. They can control what their kids eat, but instead they just don't bother and buy them garbage. If a kid is fat/obese....it is the parents fault.

in case you have been 'knowledgeable', you does not have written '... teach the stereotype that some ignorant Brits have on us.' as you may understand that one does not have 'stereotype ON something'. From a hick city like Snellville, fat and ignorant American has extremely little to be supercilious approximately. merely yet another stereotype of people that many human beings have - all of us do it, yet that doesn't make us precise, or precise.

I think the real reason is too many puddings and video games. Back when I was a younger, there were children outdoors riding bikes and pushing shopping trollies around. Now they only eat Jaffa Cakes and watch tele.
