I overheard my cousin on the bus showing his friends his chewing tobacco. he saw that I overheard and thought that I would tell his mom. I'm not sure if I should. If I do he will try to make my life a living hell. He is 15 so im pretty sure it is illegal in washington state.

stay out of it. His mom will catch him sooner or later. Save yourself some grief and troubles over this issue.

Make sure first that it actually was chewing tobacco. There are some shredded jerky brands that come packed just like it, and he coulda been trying to pull it off like he does use tobacco. As a older lady with children, I'd say let his mom know something is up.

Now, I am also a smoker, so I know what it does to a body,a nd if you look at the pics of people who use tobacco long time, their lower lips-you'll be doing him a huge favor to get him caught now.

The next part is, how much do you like him? Because telling is going to help him more than harm him. Do you care for him? If so, then tell his mom. This is coming from a woman who smokes!

Try talking to him first. Maybe he was just showing off in front of the other kids to try to look big. It could have been bubblegum. Make sure you know it is tobacco before you speak with his mother. If he is really chewing, tell her, but let him know first that you are going to tell her and that you are doing it out of love and concern for him.

You should probably just keep quiet about it for now. Chances are pretty good that your Aunt will find out for herself. You might also think about confronting him, though. He needs to know that what he's doing is dangerous. Just because it's chew doesn't mean it's safe. People can, and do, get cancer from it, not to mention the awful staining, smell and mess.

Maybe tell him he needs to educate himself about what he's doing so he can see the dangers. Then give him the option: "quit on your own or I'll tell - because you matter to me and I won't stand by and watch you do something stupid"

no just kinda sit back and ignore it. hes 15 he needs to make his own decisions..when my brother started chewing tobacco he was 15 also. and it was so hard not to tell my mom. but i just thought about it hes getting old enough to make his own decisions. and hes almost 20 now and he still does it. but if he wants to do it its not like me telling on him would have done any good. i know its hard but just try to ignore it

I think you need to figure out what your reason would be for telling his mom. If you are just trying to get him in trouble, you I don't think you should. If you are worried about his health or him getting in trouble with the law, I think you should tell. He will be mad at you and he might make your life miserable, but just think of the misery you could be saving him from.

If you think his mum needs to know then you should tell her. Also if he makes your life hell then, make his hell, or atleast tell his mum again until it stops. If he is old enough to do it, then he is old enough to accept responsibility for it!
