I would wrap it up in anything I could find in my van and take it to the closest vet office. I love all God's creatures and would help any animal (or person) in distress.

Last year a stray cat came around. I live in the country with other cats. He would never come close enough to let me touch him. I put food out in the pasture for him though.
About a month later, this poor kitty came running up to me. He was covered in about 100 ticks big ones and little ones. It was so disgusting. I pulled everyone out and he had blood all over him. I wiped him down and brought him in the house to eat. He wanted back out, but laid on the front porch for about a week.
I've had cats die from a tick disease that there is no cure for 'cytauxzoan'. I knew that's what he had. I made sure and fed him by himself everyday. He was the sweetest kitty.
I came home one day and he was near death. I wrapped him in a towel and held him in my lap and talked to him and comforted until he died in my arms.
I'd only seen him around a little over a month, but I made sure that stray cat felt love and comfort when he died. I'd do it again in a second for any stray animal.

I'll tell you what I did when it happened.
He was about 8 weeks old and had a broken leg and hip. He was starving and dehydrated (we found out later that someone has threw him against a wall 3 days before and it left the cat unconcious, so he left him there.
I brought him to the vet, paid the $70 for xrays and consultation and then agreed to the $300 surgery required to fix his leg/hip, even though the vet thought me to be a little weird to not just ask to have him put down since I had no intention on keeping him. Having 2 cats of my own already, plus another foster kitty and living with 2 dogs that weren't mine either, it would have been impossible.
They had to remove part of his bone, so one leg would be shorter than the others, but at least he'd be able to walk. Then I spent the next 3 months nursing him back to health, and I have to say my male kitty was most helpful in that regard letting the baby suckle on his titties.
After that, I gave him to my sister who loved him so much (but never got him neutered...my well was dry by that point) and she ended up taking him to a farm (grrrrr) when he started spraying all over the place.
I was pissed and never completely got over it.

That's a pretty morbid thought, but I would feel so bad for the poor cat I would do anything I could to comfort it in its last moments. I would probably even take it to the emergency vet even if I knew it was going to die anyways. I would feel like I needed to know what happened and probably even give it a proper burial.

I happen to know of a 24 hour emergency animal hospital. I would try to get that cat there before it was too late if I was in that situation. I would worry about the money later, cuz you know its going to be expensive.

I would go straight to the 24 hour emergency vet we have where I live, and if it died before I got there I would take it in anyway for them to properly dispose of.
I would prefer to bury it in my own backyard with a little marker of some sort, but my mini doxie is a digger!

Comfort it as much as possible while flying like a bat out of heck to the nearest vet's office or animal hospital. Talk to it, stroke its ears, get some water. Wrap it in a blanket. Give it a name.

Well, it depends on the injury the cat has...if its very severe then you would want to call a vet and see if it was Worth saving...if it isn't completely horrible then take it to the closest vet and hope it gets well. I hope you figure something out...

If I could identify it's condition and there was anything I could do, i'd save it, else i'd take it to the nearest surgery.
