I have replaced the solenoid 5 times, battery cables twice. Still shorting out. Anyone know why?

Your problem could be the voltage regulator or a number of different things but I would definately check with your local auto parts supplier. Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts do free electric system checkings where I'm from, I don't know about you. You could also jst check your voltage going into and out of your solenoid when the key is turned to the on position with a DVOM or voltmeter.I hope I have been helpful to you!

how old is the batt? might need to replace that just replace the whole start this time there might be a shot in the starter it's self.

has anyone checked the starter for a short?? Does your car leak oil that might be getting on the starter?
