Okay, DS is the one writing rubbish.
Please don't tell me you don't know anyone who is not Chinese who doesn't 'badmouth' other people.
And what do you mean by 'slurs'? In the way they speak? I don't understand you.
Please stop being stereotypical. I don't know what bad experiences you might have had, but please don't take it out on the Chinese in general.

The Chinese have as many slurs for things as any other people do, some of them are more poetic though (but that's the nature of the language, not due to any more creativity on their part).
Most of the Chinese people I see every day seem to be some of the rudest people, but then I realize that anyone who knew any manners were erased during the cultural revolution (manners were a sign of breeding and that was a sign of higher station. No one wanted to be a higher station then, or stand out in any way.)
The younger generations are figuring it out and learning to respect each other and the places they live. Their terminology is changing as well. It is true their term for anyone not Chinese means "old foreigner" but to them it isn't any more of a slur as us saying "Chinese".
As far as badmouthing, I haven't really experienced this too much, but a reason you might is because they are taught from a very young age that China really is the center of the world. I say this figuratively, but most of my students (high school levels) do not have any idea where other countries really are. If you give them a globe few could find Egypt, or even Britain. They are also taught that everything that is anything was invented in China and seem to be fed some disturbing pieces of other cultures (such as the US is such a dangerous place to visit that anyone who goes there will probaly be shot and killed, or that everyone in the US owns multiple guns).
If a culture has such a high opinion of itself it is easy to look down on everyone else (look at the US. Americans have taken that outlook from the British and made it their own. I hope China doesn't take it from the US though, it's caused the US a lot of problems.)

If you can tell me of a country where no one "badmouth's" foreigners I will be impressed!
Anyway, if you consider the history of China and all the foreign occupation etc that has taken place, then maybe that could give you an idea of why then "badmouth" other people.
In my opinion though, Chinese are a lot more peaceful than say Americans.

DS you are the one crapping.
"China itself occupied Vietnam, Mongolia, Korea, Myanmar, still occupies parts of India, Tibet and claims Taiwan."
Goodness me, how much do you know about the Chinese history? Tibet belongs to China, it is a part of China!
And as for Taiwan.... do you know history at all? *faint*
And China didn't occupy the other places you mentioned?
Oh as for the "slurs", I don't quite agree with you. There is as many slurs in English language as there is in Chinese. We like to badmouth other people? We don't. If we dislike someone, we'll be frank and tell the person about it. We are straightfoward.
This, however, does not apply to Singapore Chinese.

I feel it applies to all of the oriental individuals, honestly. No offense supposed. But I am simply answering the query. It appears like that to individuals who do not talk the language. Give it a check out. Make a laugh of anybody who's distinctive from you. It's now not all that elaborate. Sometimes it is a laugh.

Okay, DaXue is full of crap. I've been to most Asian countries and Chinese are by far the rudest.
Chinese have so many slurs because they don't like anyone who isn't Han Chinese. Yes, they badmouth the Chinese who don't look Chinese. Especially the Muslims from the North or the Hakka from the west. Well, pretty much anyone who doesn't have money.
The funniest by far, is that they hate Filipinos and Indonesians for...get this...moving in China and taking their jobs and having slightly darker skin. Indians are even darker, so they are considered worse, and Africans are at the bottom of the list. Go to Guangzhou if you want a visual.
But think, even the nice word for foreigner in Chinese means "outsider."
Oh and I wish DaXue would understand that EVERY county in Asia has been occupied by foreigners except Thailand. India and the Phillipenes were occupied for several centuries and are much nicer. China itself occupied Vietnam, Mongolia, Korea, Myanmar, still occupies parts of India, Tibet and claims Taiwan. Stop claiming the high road

Every language has insults for foreigners. Chinese aren't the only ones to insult people who don't look like them.
