She has always been an indoor cat and we had her since she was a kitten. She got out by accident. We have searched all over for her and this is one big city. Will she be able to find her way home? Or will she be lost? We are very worried.

Do all cats have a sense of direction? Are they able to find their way home even if they have been indoor cats?

most likely she will come back because she know that there will be food at your house and that she loves you. it happened to me once

I don't know, but when I was little, our fat indoor cat got outside. Eight months later, my mom found her, skinny, three doors down. She got LOST.

I've heard that if a cat is spooked and seriously books, they may not be paying attention and can get lost, but if they're curious, they know where they are. My mom let my kitten outside the day after we got her, and she always came home.

Maybe somebody else found her and wants to keep her. You could do the poster thing. You may also need to be prepared for bad news, if she's used to the indoors, the outdoors may be too dangerous for her.

Sorry if I just gave you, like, five different answers, but in the end, it's all up to your cat and where they want to go. I really hope you find her!

Most house-cats that get outside do not go far. They get scared and hide in the nearest available nook, sometimes for days. Often escaped cats are found within 100 feet or closer. Look near your home or wherever the cat escaped from.

Put her litter box by your front door. If she is somewhere nearby, she'll be able to pick up the familiar scent and make her way back home - possibly in the quiet hours after midnight when there is minimal human activity.

Hope your cat gets back home in good order.

cats are extremely good at directing themselves, that is the reason why i stopped having cats in my house, i breed them, but i don't have them as pets cuz they run away all the time and bring back a lot of weird stuff, viruses, bacteria, feline hiv, it's crazy, but don't worry just remember to take her to the vet every once in a while if she goes out a lot and don't try to punish her cuz all you are gonna get is her running away again! if she doesn't come back it's maybe because someone picked her up, try flyers with her picture, if someone has her it's likely they'll return her, if not, she'll come back when she's hungry... keep me updated!

Put wanted posters of her all over the city. Make commercials of her to the daily news. Find her and get her a mircochip. Heres an ex. of the poster:

Pic.

Name: Cookie
Color: Calico
Apperence: Blue eyes, no tail, lank, dark paws.
Triats: Loves to jump on back, not shy, very loving, chatty, scared of cars.

If you find her, call 000-000-0000 or mail me at Main Str. in my city. PLEASE if you find Cookie, bring her home. We love you Cook!

some do-um but she was never outside before-so that is a hard one to say if she would be able to- all i can say is call all of your neighbours or go door to door asking if they have seen your cat-call the humane society maybe someone has seen her and took her there-make posters up of her and put them up all around-
all i can say is good luck and i hope you find her-and keep trying on looking for her as well!!

It all depends on the cat. They do have a sense of direction but if someone else picked them up and is feeding them they will not leave where the food is.
