If you say "not at all", you are quite literally insane. As for people who arent insane, lets speak reasonably. To what degree should violence, done in the name of a religion, define the religion itself?

For example, am I not perfectly accurate to say "many muslims do violence because they believe that it is a mandate of Islam?"

If you deny the truth of this, your again, insane. If we then agree on the ovious, then orignal question comes into play..."to what degree should islamic violence define or color islam"

ok...what say you...

note: almost all war today is islamic. islam has essentially always been at war. the greatest genocides in human history were done by muslims in 11th century and 20th century.

I would say that accusations of insanity are a little too much at this time. Sanity is after all relative.
What 20th century genocide are you referring to?
If we lived, say in 16th century Europe, what would we be saying about Christianity? Islam still has a long way to go to equal that. The only difference is that now we have TV, satellite communications, the internet and cameras everywhere to record violence and transmit it all across the world. We are very aware of the Islamist violence, but have no audio/video comprehension of the violence committed in the name of Christianity, if this makes any sense.
You should concentrate your criticizms on the idea of religion as a whole, even though i know that Islam is too much of a tempting target right now.
That is what pragmatism is

hi there
u asked a very complicated question
we cant answer it by few words
the fact is that: most muslims believe in the conspiracy theory but that belief isn't part of the islam as a religion , so the defect was not in islam but i'm with u ; the defect in muslims (but notice that not most of muslims is like that)
there is a fact that says: bad dominate but good not
so if there is ten people & 2 between them is violent u may say the all ten or most of the ten people are violent because they r one group
so if u read islam not just see what muslims do u will find that violence is not the color of islam & if u know the translation of the word islam in arabic & look from where it comes u'll find it is from"peace" & muslims "hello" is "alsalam alaekum" which mean "peace on u"
thanx

Perhaps i am insane.

But this statement : "many muslims do violence because they believe that it is a mandate of Islam?"

Is inflammatory and useless.

Many? Just how large of the entire muslim population are you indicting with that term?

AND unless i miss my guess hitler considered himself christian. And therefore its a safe play to lay ALL the european theater deaths during WW2 in the christian camp.

If you wanna blame muslims for deaths caused in 9/11, then christians are to blame for all the deaths in the iraq war. A christian STARTED the war, therefore he should be blamed.

Christians have therefore caused BY FAR more deaths in the last 100 years then muslims ever thought about.

"many muslims do violence because they believe that it is a mandate of Islam?"

I agree with this phrase but as you know that not all the people have a perfect mind to understand the aim and conditions under which violence can be used

The people you are talking about are not on the true way of islam nor the steps of our prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

I'm sure that you hasn't met a Muslim before and if you did met any muslim ...
did he/she tried to beat you ?? I don't think so

If you lived in the late-30s to mid-40s, you would say that "the greatest genocides in human history were done by Christians"...

So I say your memory does not serve you very well...

Can you tell me how many people have died under Chrisitan violence?

Actually, Mr. History, wars have been fought in the name of all religions, except Buddhism, which isn't a religion as much as it is a way of life.

If you aren't just some angry kid on the Internet, then you'd know about the various Christian and Jewish wars that have been fought as well.
