what the hell?

well this question could have many different answers and we can't 'prove' and of them to others, but might be able to find the answers for ourselves.

A God can either be a creation of mankind. A mythical creature that becomes 'real' in the sense that people believe in it so much that a culture forms a shared part in their subliminal mind which acts as a mind controlling device and can affect reality physical and spiritual on a large scale.

Or

Gods are ancient souls/spirits that became either really powerful or really wise and decided to share some of their knowledge and/or power with humans for some reason.

They could also be entities of different realms/dimensions beyond our scope of time and space.

Cat: Contrary to popular belief, "knowledge" per sec, is NOT power. This is apparent in observing the past history of the ages. Greeks and Romans had knowledge but moral and spiritual decay led to the demise of these two great world-ruling powers of their day. When you see the very same trends becoming more prevalent in today's society and we call it "smart" or intelligence, what do we really know ? The very character and nature of God - that is His Holiness, denotes a standard, which is unachievable by human intellect,
but can only be attained to by a greater spiritual entity apart from self.

(Well, for one thing, He knows how to use punctuation marks...)

In the case of the real God, everything:

* He's always existed.
* He can do anything -- He's all-powerful.
* He's all-knowing.
* Besides knowing everything, He's also infinitely wise. (He knows what to do with that knowledge.)
* He made everything.
* And He made everything in order to bring glory to Himself (which is His perfect right).
* What else is there?

I could probably continue all night, but I don't have that long. Hopefully you get the idea: Basically (to get back to your original question), *God* makes God be a God.

That's His nature.

God is what you choose to believe in. If you choose to believe that your money is your god, you will worship that money until you die or its all gone. We have heard, seen, and even believed in god, I think it is the state of the mind, someone to look up to for acceptance, deliverance, sense of security and belongingness, guidance, shelter. We make this state of the mind have a concept of sense of security and belongingness, individualize it in supernatural powers and authority that when one violets this state of the mind, you think that they are worth punishment and face repercusions of blasphemy.

If you were made to believe that your dad, or guardian is a god, has all what it takes to make things happen, and even brought you to life, - if you were fed with this knowledge from your toddlerhood till now, believe you man, you will always believe in that until, when you realize and critisize what you believe, objectivize what you have learned - then and only then, would you have a different point of view on what you god is.

People will read you chapters from prayer books because that is all what they have learned to believe to have the best principle of life, thats their god. If you were to burn their prayer book, they would be angry at you ....immensely, because they believe their god is where he is mentioned the most and valued the most. God is state of the mind as the high power of authority in ones being.

God doesn't make God, but God is God because he is! Although I do get angry and sad when Death takes our dearest love ones, but then again I must remind myself that Death will also come for me someday! So as to the question " What make's a God be a God is a question that will have no real answer!

God doesn't have a resume with qualifications on it. God is God. There is only one God. The one and true God. The one Creator of all seen and unseen. It's up to man to figure out if they have faith in the true God that created them. Discernment helps them comes to this virtue by the grace of God.

God is defined by Who God is, not by what God does. Some would say that only a being who is worshiped can be a god, but God was God long before anyone else was around.

A God is a Father to look up to, someone to copy and love and respect someone who teaches You to love not hate someone who would not ask you to kill in His Name.All are equal in his sight and all will recieve love from Him,however false prophets have claimed to speak for Him and the World can now see what is in store for those who follow that creed,suicide bombers,beheading,stoning to death.not a real God.

If you have a god's power and know everything, then, I guess, you may call yourself a god.

According to the Bible there is only one true God, Yahweh the creator of heaven and earth. Any one or thing that claims to be "a" god is a liar. Hindus believe in thousands of "gods" Islam believes in Allah as god, not so Allah comes from a pagan deity that were moon worshipers. There is only the one God and He is a triune God, Father Son and Holy Spirit. The first commandment tells us we are not to have any other gods, God the creator deserves all our praise and worship.
