I would like to loose 30 pounds, I have been eating 800-1000 calories a day and working out for and hour and a half everyday, walking for over an hour and then doing weight machines for about 20 minutes, i have been doing this for 10 days now and have lost 4 pounds, will this be a healthy and effective way to loose weight?

If you keep with it you should be able to keep the weight off. I would suggest you talk with your doctor about you losing this weight. Also drink lots of water and eat fruits and veggies. Take a multivitamin.
Good luck

No, it's not healthy. You need a minimum of 1200-1400 calories per day. Plus, you if you continue to eat 800-1000 calories a day; your metabolism will decrease. Yes, you will lose weight quick at first, but it is bad in the long run. Your body will start to burn only those 800 calories you are eating, and this will make weight loss very difficult. Best of luck. I'm dieting as well. I have lost 12 pounds in 11 days; I eat 1,400-1,900 calories a day and excerise a minimum of two hours.
God Bless, Nichole

The first week you tend to lose a lot of water weight which may account for the 4 lbs you've lost.

800-100 calories a day is starvation rations.

Starving yourself will make your body hold onto the fat while cannibalizing your muscles.

You need to up your intake to about 1200 calories per day. That amount coupled with the exercise you are doing will take the weight off at the healthy rate of 2lb a week. The healthier you are at taking the weight off the more likely it is to stay off.

Make sure to drink lots of water and take your multivitamins.

Hi, I have been exercising for about 4 years religiously!! I find that if you weigh 177lbs, your body craves 1770 calories a day to function correctly! If you deprive your body, you will send it into shock( it will start holding food as fat). Try and eat at least five to six times a day and split the calories through out your day. Eating 5 times a day will make your metabolism boost back up!!The problem that your having is that your metabolism has slowed down because you are eating incorrectly.Eating this way and exercising the way you are is going to work.....trust me. Just remember to be positive and weight comes off slowly and permanently if done properly!!

You can try all natural water pills... that helps... the only thing you can really do is diet and exercise... dont drink soda or any junk food and you will be surprised how much weight you loose just from cutting those 2 things out of your diet. My roommate uses Hydroxy cut and that has really been helping with the exercise. Try do like some type of stair stepping exercise, that helps burn a lot of calories too. Good luck!

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.
