have they said anything about the draft in the pass few days.. i head that they voited no..does anyone else know about this..or whats the deal..

I haven't heard that he did this currently, but Rangel does this all the time. Last time I knew of, he voted against his own proposal! It is just a ploy to try to get people riled up. We have a very successful, capable, all-voluntary military and there's every reason to believe it will stay that way.

This is old. Rep. Rangel proposed this a year - maybe longer - ago. He knew at the time it wouldn't make it out of committee. He was trying to make a point about how kids with rich daddies aren't standing in line to enlist and die in a war for oil. He says the President would think harder about going to war if there's an equal chance his daughters could be sent over.
This bill has no chance of passing any time soon. Voting for it would be political suicide.

It will not pass. The draft is the last thing we want. Charles Rangel does not speak for Republicans, the military and I suspect most democrats.

All this is was a gimmick Rangel came up with for a Federal Jobs Program.
You could actually agree to serve the Federal government rather than the military - A big loophole, don't you think?

There was an attempt to pass it, but it failed. I imagine the biggest reason why it failed, was the U.S. government has been purposely downsizing the U.S. military (the reason for all those base closings) since the Cold War. It would be too weird to try to boost troops while cutting the number of troops at the same time.

He's been proposing the draft for four years now, he thinks only poor Black kids are joining the Army these days and wants to spread the privilege of serving our nation around to the middle and upper classes too...

Now than Obama is in the picture, Rengel is just trying to prove his own relevance. He thinks congress is a reality show and now that there's a black man in the spotlight who's primary attribute is his brain rather than his skin, Rengel is worried about getting voted off the island. Ignore him and maybe he will go away.

Gooooodddd!! and I want it with NO exceptions, unless you are REALLY screwed up like for example missing a leg, or an eye, etc.
Otherwise to everyone your butt should be in uniform out of High School for a couple of years, serving out there in the real world, like the Israelis do, getting a REAL education of what kind of world we really live in.
Military service is a real eye opener for our people so they can see and really learn of the evil in this world, an evil that you can't bargain with, you can't negotiate with, that it will not listen to reason and it does not have remorse.
and all we can do to stop them is to kill them. period!
