I bet you are dying to buy a sports car you don't need either.
Can you say, "Mid-life crisis?"

Go for it a tattoo is great and I especially like the ones people get with meaning behind it. Celestial is cool maybe make there first names flying across stars around the sun and moon thing? Well make sure you get a good tattoo artist sometimes it is a tricky suituation and you may end up with an amateur tattoo....Good luck!

What if your wife was the moon (or sun) and your daughters were the stars. You can either get a portrait of their faces inside them or their names written with them.
What a great idea to honor your family. I hope you find an idea that works!

That's great that you've decide on something that you want! I'm all for tattoos that have special meaning to them. Don't believe what everyone says about getting your wife/husband/fiancee's name on your body. It is true, if something doesn't work out you wouldn't want to regret it--but the way I look at it is some people just know they're meant to be and they want to honor that special someone. My fiancee begged me to get my initals on his shoulder (his only tattoo!) and so I finally gave in. Just seeing how happy he is that he made this decision has made me love this tattoo even more (although at first I thought it was pretty cheesy.
Definately talk to your wife about it before you get it though. See how she feels and see if she'll be a part of the process when you go and have it done. I definately wouldn't "surprise" her with something that permanent.
But honestly, do what you want to do. If you're sure that's what you want, I say go for it. :)

sounds good, but everyone has the whole celestial or tribal idea, and im sure if youre going to get something to honor your wife and kids you think their very special and wouldnt want an average tattoo to honor how much they mean to you,the best advice to give you is not to decide a tattoo from a yahoo response thingy, but, ive seen people with dragonflys and have their kids names on the wings, and theres people with bracelets tattoo with their kids on it, the best thing you can do is think of somethign that reminds you of your wife and two kids and get that, hopefully it wont be the 2 kids fighting and your wife cooking a good meal

I would do the sun in the center representing you and then then a smaller moon next to it representing your wife and then two stars next to it. That way incase you have any other kids..You can easily add on a star
It could be a whole sun and moon revolve equally together..something like that.

i think it's a very sweet idea to want to honor your family this way. don't listen to the people that are telling you not to do it. if this is something you have thought through and really want, go for it. they obviously did not pay attention when you asked for ideas on what to get, not their opinion on if you should get it.
i suggest you take your idea to a tattoo artists. they, before anyone else, would be able to work with you and get a design that best fits your style.
good luck!

for a smaller tattoo (since it's your first)
Have rings tattooed on your fingers. Your wife's name on your left, and the girls names on your right
Larger tattoo:
Have your wife's face as the sun/ moon (hair morphed into sun rays expanding outward.
Your daughters are smaller stars behind her with the same concept.
You can intertwine the 3 pictures with a night sky (dark clouds and small star points)
I would have said your wife was the sun only- but it's hard to have a sun in the night sky.

If you're 35 and have never gotten a tattoo you should not get one. I understand wanting to honor your loved ones but just be a great husband and father and don't ruin what God gave you. I got a tattoo (sun with a moon inside smiling below my belly button to the right) when I was 27. I'm now 36 and wish I hadn't gotten one. I don't want my daugthers to get one and to be honest they both think it's trashy and they're probably right. In a few years you'll be glad you didn't do it.

awesome idea. how about the sun, moon and stars - one the represent each. sun at top, being your wive, the moon and a star angled below, one being each daughter.
also, if you go to a good tattoo parlor, the artists will help you, and may even draw a custom design.

I would take your idea to a tattoo artist or the one you've chosen to go to and speak with them about it. Maybe your wife being the son...and your daughters the rays somehow???
