you to get in heaven, what kind of penalty and rewards would be given to minor transgresssions and good deeds? would anyone earn enough points to get into heaven? or would all deeds deduct so many points that everyone would get sent to hell?

my question is misunderstood. of course there is a saviour! and we can get into heaven because of him! because of his sacrements and covenants. but what if it was only based on points irreguardless of the atonement? What if the sacrificial lamb will nulify all points systems, but getting into the gates of zion isnt enough? What if heaven was regarded for entry only by those that make a million points or ten million? and when you die! if you dont have enough positive points only asking for mercy in the name of christ can save you? what if hell is a lack of good deeds and nothing else, or a negative score?

Our human minds want so much for there to be a linear God, one with a clear set of rules, and understandable means of Competition. I don't believe that God is some cosmic referee, awarding points and calling fouls. Tracking sins and sanctity is just another game of idol worship. God is mystery and paradox - God bestows Grace not based on merit, but based in love. Be open to God's grace for yourself, and for others.

this is much like what Martin Luther (original reformer) struggled with as a monk in the medieval church, when they were selling indulgences (give the nice priest enough money and say you're sorry, and he'll give you a "get out of hell" pass for that misdeed)... how good is good enough?
he decided that noone could ever attain the million points, because we all mess up unintentionally and thus cancel out the points we've been scrounging up and slaving over... but that God's already given us our "get out of hell free" pass - no indulgences required, even!
as to your question, Jesus said no sin is worse than another - if I steal my sister's teddy bear, that's as bad as if John Doe robs a bank or kills his wife - they're all failures to meet God's will. So no minor transgressions, apparently - all sins pretty much cancel out any balance in your own favor.

Buddy, keep on cutting jokes and making whimsical conjecture, you can really understand the torments of hell or bounties of paradise when you will be confronted.Quran says about the two that no one has knowledge about this because we are not to comprehend them as yet.Every one is destined to heavens but some will under the experience of hell and treated to overcome the shortcomings and incapabilities developed due to mischiefs of this life.

At the crucial point of Christ's life on earth, where he asked God is there any other way than this, to bring salvation to the human race-------it was decided that there was NO OTHER WAY. This means, although its hard to grasp, no other way.

You don't EARN your way into Heaven. You get there through Jesus, or you don't get there at ALL!
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

You only need one. Remember the dude on the cross next to Jesus? He was into negative points and he put his faith in Jesus and wham-mo- Jesus said He'd meet him on the other side. You can't not love how wonderful that is. 'Cause admit it- on our own we all really suck. I don't want to have to worry about points.

" For by Grace are ye saved through Faith, It is a gift of God, not of works; lest any man should boast".
I can not earn salvation--I must accept it by Faith
