Danes can eat a 40 pound bag of food in 2 weeks so if you are feeding lets say iams-which you can get a 40 lb for about 30 dollars

30x2=60 per month
60x12=720 per year

this is just dog food you also have to consider vet bills---hope this helps!

Just an idea for you to compare to. First, let me qualify my answer with this statement: My dog has horrible food allergies and can only eat one brand of dog food. So, I don't really have a choice on what I feed her, otherwise my cost would probably be much less.

I have a 130lb Great Dane. Her food is $40 for a 20lb bag. I have to get her two bags per month on average. So, that's $80/month or $960/year. I'd say that $1000 per year would be a pretty good guess for me personally.

However, you also have to factor in that since I work for a vet clinic, I get my food for cost (rather than retail). So, if I didn't work there, it would probably cost me almost $2000 a year to feed her. So, although it already costs me an arm and a leg to feed her, I could be worse off!!

That depends on what food you feed them. I have 5 dogs, 1 St. Bernard, 1 German Shepherd, 1 Doberman mix and 2 Bulldogs. My food cost $30/40 pound bag and 2 bags last me about 2-3 weeks. So feeding 5 dogs cost me between $1050 and $1560 per year.

Awful idea... biologically speaking, Canines are OBLIGATE CARNIVORES. Just because you are a vegetarian perhaps, doesnt mean your dog should be. Its contra-nature and counter intuitive to feed a dog, or a cat for that matter, vegetarian meals for it's whole life. Obligate Carnivore definition: An obligate carnivore is an animal that by its genetic makeup must eat the tissue of other animals in order to thrive. Obligate carnivores may eat other foods, such as vegetables, grains, or fruit, but they must eat meat as the main source of their nutrients. Legumes and bean proteins will not suffice either, realistically speaking a dog needs all those chemicals and nutrients in plain old meat.... things like Creatine and phosphates are naturally occuring in red meat, but yet not in any vegetables.... as well cholesterol does not occur in any plants,and a dog needs some cholesterol. My point is, rethink this vegetarian diet and go for a good quality meat based food like Innova or Wellness... or Evangers.

Honestly depends on the breed of your dog, energy level, age, how much you feed, and brand of food you buy. If you feed your dog premium food, its going to cost more, but its better for your dog. You get what you pay for.

For example, I have a 5 yr old Germ. Shep who is lazy and do he is on weight management and doesn't eat very much. I pay about 40.oo for a 30lb bag of food and that lasts me about a month. If he was more energetic, he would eat more, and thus go through food faster.

So it depends on you and your dog...

Depends on how much he eats and what type of dog it is. Plus it also depends on the type of dry dog food and can dog food you are getting since there is a wide range of prices for both types. Also depends if you are only feeding him dry dog food and giving him some of the same food you are having for dinner.

I have 2-90pound Goldens so I spend 100 dollars a month to feed them. so thats $1,200.00 a year. Divide that by 2 and that is $600.00 dollars for one large dog every year.
this does not include treat bones or treats just for fun.
