I have an 8 month golden and sometimes he still gets a bit carried away with his mouth. LOL!
What you need to do is keep saying, somewhat loudly, "Ouch!". At the same time, give a VERY gentle tap on the head or nose, or, even better, a slight squeeze on the back of his neck (which will simulate an alpha nip).
At this age, puppies will always use their mouths. He's also trying to figure out if you're the boss or if he is. So this is part of his play. I have two pups who are a bit equal in rank, so they always fight this way with each other. But with me, if they ever get a tad obnoxious, all I have to say is "Ouch!" and they immediately stop. They recognize me as the "alpha" and realize this is not accepted.
So at this point, gentle correction is needed to guide your young pup. If, however, he doesn't respond then you may need to increase your training more.
Good luck and enjoy your pup. If your Golden is like mine, you'll have this ridiculously loving and happy dog that you just can't get mad at.

This is a fun game for him I assume ! Dogs, especially retrievers love to go after moving targets and your quick moving feet, especially in socks look like a fun moving toy to chase and bite at. I reccomend getting him lots of different stuffed animals about the size of a foot and each time he starts to bite/play with your feet scold him by saying a sharp loud no, point your finger at him them redirect him to a game of fetch/tug with the stuffed animal. The foot thing is a combinations of wanting to play and trying to get your attention, don't be too hard on your dog just redirect him to the stuffed animals and give him a lot of praise when he plays with them instead of your feet. Good luck and have fun - I know thoses puppy teeth can be sharp - ouch !

I sitting her giggling but not in a mean way. I do recall having a litter or 2 that did the same thing. It is just a very convent way for them to get your attention. Works doesn't it. All I can tell you is that it will stop, but please don't hit the puppy. Not even a tap on the nose. He is trying to get your attention to play and if you hurt his feelings all this does is telling him not to trust you. Just push him away with your hand and tell him in a very deep tone of voice NO. He will come back again and you just tell him no again. If you want try the bitter apple spray on any thing that has to do with your feet. He will get the message.
I had one pup that used to attach himself right to my fuzzy slippers and would not let go for anything. I dragged him around with me everywhere. He is now a very good service dog.

Well, I'm no veterinarian assistant, but we've had two lab/mix puppies (one is same age as yours), and I've found scolding with "no" and a little pop on the nose to go a long way. Word of advice though, retrievers have a reputation for being chewers. If this doesn't work, you might try a crate to break the habit. Your puppy is probably like ours and is teething.

my friends bought a two month old westhighland terrier..and it does the same thing...
it bites/nibbles people..socks..furniture ..you name it..
they sell a product called sour apple at the pet store...you spray it on the item you don't wish your dog to chew on.
it really is harmless..I tasted it myself..the product basically is rubbing alcohol..with a few spices/bitter herbs for flavoring.
I am assumeing your wearing socks when the dog tries to bite your feet...I believe it is the natural instict to chase anything that is white..I believe since dogs are color blind..all they are seeing is the movement of your feet...without realising it is a part of you
most trainers will tell you to yell at the pup..
the dog whisper guy on tv said to use a deep "masculent" voice..tell the pup NO!!!! and then make the connection between the undesired behavior..
I believe one must use simple terms with pups...my friend likes to use NO BITE..or NO JUMP to convey the message.

first of all, your dog is probably still teething. it is just a phase that your dog will probably get over with. In the meantime, you can see if your local pet store has anything to help you out. my friend has 2 golden retrievers and when they started chewing on something such as furniture, he sprayed it with bitter apple spray for dogs. this made his dogs not want to chew the item anymore

he is playing, you need to use a raised voice and tell him NO! whimpering a bit too will let him know that it hurts you. He is not attacking you, just using what he has to play, and those little needle teeth do smart! Also make sure he has his own toys to chew on as well. PLEASE, do not hit the puppy, if it is needed, pick him up and put him in his crate or other container away from you.

Might be playing and teething also.
A dog that age and the size he is going to be needs to go through training and socialization. I suggest you get into some classes at Petsmart with your dog. He will learn the basics in obedience and he will love the challenge of learning something new. Its a great way to bond with your dog and spend quality time.
That breed loves to learn and use their brain power.

Give him a small slap on his nose every time he does it and tell him no in a loud voice, if he continues then find a room where you can put him in and close the door so he has a time out. Make sure it's a big room and not a closet or the guest washroom.
