No, not a war.
God created everything including Satan and Hell. It would be kind of like a fight between a psychotic five year old and an Airborne Ranger or a Marine. The Ranger would not want to hurt the kid, but, in the end you would just have to put him down.
Someone watching might say they were fighting, but, the fight was never in any doubt.
God gave people free will, what is free will without choice? God had to make at least two choices, Heaven and Hell to have choice and free will.
Sure, we can choose to do "bad" things, but, we can also choose to live the life God wanted us to have.

He was cast down with 1/3 of the angels.

An all out war? If it happens before I die, dang, I missed out. I was going to have to go to Hell, so I would kill Satan, take over and manage the war.

there is no war with hell ... thats a place prepared for those that are already defeated ... there was a war in heaven once and Satan and his followers got kicked out ... thats about it ...

How do you know it's not happening right now? Every instant, every minute, hour, day, week, month, year, etcetera ad nauseam?
(Between you and I, I think it's a rigged fight, and Satan's supposed to lose. Still, he gets his own in other ways...)

First off, It already has happened,Tell me what do you think about this, READY? OK. AT one time, lucifer held a certain position in heaven. I believe that , at one time lucifer held the keys to heaven and hell, The bible speaks about him as being the most beautiful angel, adorned with precious stones on his brestplate. Mind you, you will NEVER hear this in any church, these 'thoughts' are taboo.Anyway, with that said, he became proud, and wanted to be like god. Think for a moment. Why did not ANY other angel think along these lines? Why is there NO mention of ANY other angel who wished to ascend to the throne of god? The reason is because lucifer, being one with authority[keys to heaven and hell] was in the perfect position to try to overstep his boundries. He KNEW what it was to have AUTHORITY, and he wanted the ULTIMATE authority, Over heaven, and more importantly, humankind! That is why he tempted adam and eve in the garden of eden. You see, satan[ now as he was known] is much like a spoiled child, wanting ALL of god's attention on himself. The reason why he went to the garden of eden was because we[humankind] were the apple of god's eye. Satan hates that. He despises anyone or anything that gets close to god, because HE WANTS ALL THE ATTENTION TO HIMSELF! The reason why jesus was born and WAS MADE MAN, was to REUNITE humankind to god before the fall of man. In other words, To place Humankind back into gods grace. Yes, CHRIST died for our sins, but moreover, it was to establish humankind back to the position before they disobeyed god.The ONLY one who could of done what christ did was christ! He was the ONLY one who TRULY loved god with ALL his heart! . I firmly believe that god asked satan for whatever authority{ keys to heaven and hell] that he had. Satan agreed, because he thought that jesus was going to fail. as adam and eve did. You see, satan up to this point was batting 100. There was no doubt in satans mind that jesus was going to fail. THINK ABOUT THIS!!!!!!! That is why he tempted jesus in the desert, 3 times, offered him kingdoms, and even tried to make him call upon his father. You see, everything that satan tempted jesus with, were things that humankind consider important! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!! When jesus failed to take the bait, [ When satan could not tempt jesus directly] he went INDIRECTLY thru judas! Satan tempts us with what is already in our hearts.Judas hands over jesus and the rest is history. At the end, jesus exclaims, BEHOLD< I HAVE THE KEYS TO HEAVEN AND HELL! WHOMSO EVER I LET IN< STAYS IN! WHOMSOEVER I SHUT OUT, STAYS OUT! . No where in this whole scernio does jesus even remotely mention these 'KEYS", it is only at the end. WHY? It was his reward for standing fast to his father and accomplishing what he set out to do.
